Bajaj Auto has reported overall sales (two-wheelers and commercial vehicles) of 3,16,020 units in February 2022, a 16 per cent decline over sales of 3,75,017 units in the same month a year ago. In the domestic market, Bajaj Auto's two-wheeler sales took a beating in February 2022, sliding 35 per cent from 1,48,934 units in February 2021 to just 96,523 units last month. Two-wheeler exports remained flat in February 2022, with 1,82,814 units, as compared to 1,83,629 units exported in the same month a year ago. Bajaj Auto's overall two-wheeler sales in February 2022 accounted for 2,79,337 units, compared to 3,32,563 units in the same month a year ago, a decline of 16 per cent.

The company's commercial vehicle sales remained flat in the domestic market, recording sales of 16,224 units in February 2022, as compared to 15,887 units in the same month a year ago. But commercial vehicle exports fell 23 per cent to 20,459 units in February 2022, as compared to 26,5777 units in the same month a year ago.

Bajaj Auto is the largest exporter of two-wheelers from India, and the company reported its highest-ever exports in a calendar year in 2021.

In year-to-date numbers (April 2021 to February 2022), Bajaj Auto reported two-wheeler sales of 15,34,003 units in the domestic market, compared to 16,27,982 units in the same period a year ago. Exports in the same period grew 24 per cent to 20,46,529 units, as compared to 16,47,778 units in the same period a year ago. Overall two-wheeler sales in the period (including both domestic and export markets) grew 9 per cent, from 32,75,760 units in the April 2020 to February 2021 period, to 35,80,532 units in the April 2021 to February 2022 period.
