BMW expects to make a profit this year if demand continues to recover, despite posting a record loss for its car division in the second quarter after sales slumped 25% because of coronavirus lockdowns, it said on Wednesday.

Two-wheeler sales across brands have started to pick up steam, with the year-on-year decline in July much lower than in June.

The rise in global sales is primarily attributed to Volvo's SUV range, which contributed to 72.8 per cent of the overall volumes, while the Volvo V60 estate and S60 sedan have added to the overall sales performance as well.

U.S. new vehicle sales in July continued to show signs of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, as Toyota Motor Corp on Monday posted its lowest sales decline since the virus outbreak slammed the sector in mid-March.

Home-grown commercial vehicle manufacturer, Ashok Leyland today released the monthly sales numbers for July 2020, during which the company's total sales stood at 4775 units. Compared to the 10,926 units sold in July 2019, the company has witnessed a Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) decline of 56 per cent.

Bajaj Auto, the Pune-based auto manufacturer on Monday officially announced its monthly sales numbers for the month of July 2020. For the last month, the automaker retailed 2,55,832 units, as against the 3,81,530 units in the same month last year. The manufacturer has witnessed a degrowth of 33 per cent in Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) numbers. However, as compared to the previous month, the company recorded a Month-on-Month (M-o-M) decline of 8 per cent wherein the company retailed 2,78,097 units in June 2020.

Since its unveil last month on July 14, Ford has bagged over 150,000 bookings for the Bronco.

Honda introduced the all-new fifth-generation Honda City last month which will be sold alongside the existing fourth-generation City. The Honda WR-V too received a facelift in July and the company is expecting both models to gain momentum during the festive season.
