Country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India continues its dominance on the Indian roads with its four models, led by entry level small car Alto heading the top ten best sellers list in April-June quarter this fiscal.

Buoyed by excise duty reduction, domestic car sales saw an upswing in June with major firms, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda, Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota and Ford reporting growth.

Mahindra Two Wheelers today reported a 131 per cent growth in domestic sales at 15,878 units for May. The company had sold 6,858 units in the corresponding month last year, the company said in a release.

Chennai-based TVS Motor Company today reported 27.33 per cent jump (rpt) jump in total sales at 2,10,293 units in May 2014.

The company's passenger vehicles segment, which includes utility vehicles and the Verito, sold 18,085 units in the aforementioned month, thus registering a drop of over four thousand units as compared to the sales figure achieved during May 2013.

Despite being the oldest car in its league, Mahindra Scorpio is still the most preferred choice among buyers. Critics started claiming the Scorpio to have lost its charm because of the new entrants like Renault Duster, but the sales numbers tell a different story.

Hero MotoCorp has has recorded its best ever non-festive season monthly performance in April 2014 with sales of 5,71,054 units of two-wheelers in the month.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor today reported a 20.35 per cent decline in total sales at 8,328 units in April 2014. The company had sold 10,456 units in the corresponding month of previous year.
