The Bajaj Pulsar N160 spy shots show the design language has been borrowed from the Pulsar N250 that went on sale last year

The upcoming Bajaj Pulsar N160 test mule was spotted testing in Chakan, on the outskirts of Pune and the bike seems to appear quite close to production. The body panels, headlamp cowl and the tail section, all borrow heavily from the Pulsar N250 in terms of design. The N160 carries a familiar headlamp unit with a projector lens and LED DRLs, while the indicators get bulbs instead of LEDs, as seen on the quarter-litre Pulsar. The 160 cc offering also gets split seats and what appears to be an LED taillight. Going by the spy shots, the motorcycle will have an upright yet sporty riding posture aimed at younger riders. Do remember, the Pulsar NS160 borrowed heavily from the NS200, so the new N160's design should hardly come as a surprise.

The upcoming Bajaj Pulsar N160 is expected to carry the same frame as the Pulsar N250, while power is likely to come from a reworked 160 cc single-cylinder engine replacing the current unit. At present, the Pulsar NS160 makes about 17 bhp and 14.6 Nm of peak torque. The new motor could see a marginal improvement in power, while torque figures could go up by a substantial margin. The test mule also gets a kick-starter, which does make for an interesting addition in modern times.

The Bajaj Pulsar N160 will ride on 17-inch alloys with MRF tyres. It'll also get single-channel ABS

Mechanically, the Pulsar N160 will come with telescopic front forks and a monoshock at the rear. The test mule also comes with disc brakes at either end albeit with only single-channel ABS. The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with MRF tyres on offer. It's likely that the upcoming Pulsar N160 could get identical pricing as the Pulsar NS160. The latter currently commands an asking price of Rs. 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the N160 could see a marginal hike. Going by the spy images, the Pulsar N160 could arrive towards the second half of the year, possibly around the festive season. It will take on the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Yamaha FZ-S FI, Hero Xtreme 160R, Suzuki Gixxer and the likes.
