It all started back in August 2016 with launch of the Tata Tiago and it took Tata Motors just two years to change all the preconceived notions that Indian car buyers had regarding the brand which gradually had developed a "fleet-purpose" image. Tata Motors conventionally was infamous for quality and fit and finish issues and it's new products like the Tiago and Nexon which have been a runaway success and in turn a game changer for Tata Motors. Tata Motors has turned it around once with new products and is geared up to step up its game again with the Turnaround 2.0 strategy which aims to resonate the Passenger Vehicle business.

With the sheer number of SUVs launched every year, it is no surprise that 2019 will be pretty much the same too. But while the SUV launches every year vary from subcompact to compact to luxury, full sized and a handful of performance SUVs, 2019 is going to be special for a different reason. It will be the first time that we see not one, not two but three subcompact, sub-4-metre subcompact SUVs launched in India in the same year. This means that that likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Ford Ecosport and the Tata Nexon will have tough competition next year from the likes of the new Mahindra XUV300, the upcoming Toyota subcompact SUV and of course, the Hyundai QXI or Carlino SUV too. So let's take a quick look at these three and see what they will offer.

The 2019 Mahindra TUV300 facelift has been spotted testing in India. Slated to be launched sometime in the first half of next year, the facelifted TUV300 is expected to come with a bunch of cosmetic updates and a host of new and updated features for the 2019 model year.

The all-new BMW Z4, now in it's third generation was showcased a few months ago and is quite the looker. BMW's two seater sports car has stayed true to its roots with a front engine, rear wheel drive layout and the older second generation car did quite well in India when it was launched back in 2009. And now, the new generation BMW Z4 has been spied in India wearing heavy camouflage. The ne BMW Z4 is slated to be launched in India next year and will possibly undergo type approval and homologation in the country and will be priced around the Rs 1 Crore mark.

Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Wagon R in India on January 23, 2019. The new car is slated to go up against the likes of the Tata Tiago and the recently launched Hyundai Santro. Prices for the new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R are expected to be between Rs 4-5 lakh (ex-showroom) with the new car set to be offered with more features, more space and of course, more safety than ever before. Maruti Suzuki will also be launching an all-electric version of the Wagon R in India in 2020 but while the two cars will wear a similar badge, they will be very different in terms of the way they look and the overall features they offer.

Recently some new spy shots have surfaced online, and this time around we get to see the cabin of the all-new MPV. The MPV will be based on the Kwid's CMF-A platform and will be a sub-4 metre model, rivalling the likes of the Datsun GO+.

Spy photos of both the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 and CLA 45 have been leaked undergoing testing, and the cars appear to be nearing production stage. Both the cars are heavily camouflaged, while the front is still missing several elements, which we hope to see in future, and more production-ready test mules.

Few Mahindra dealers in some of the metropolitan cities have started accepting bookings for the upcoming XUV300 subcompact SUV. carandbike has reached out to some of the Mahindra dealers in Mumbai and Delhi-NCR region who have admitted accepting bookings for the XUV500 and have promised to prioritize deliveries of the same. However, the company has denied the news saying that they have not started with the bookings yet and dealers are only addressing prospective customers who are coming to showrooms with queries.
