Presently on the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) calendar, Thailand's Chang International Circuit in Buriram is all set to take a spot on the MotoGP calendar in 2018. The Hermann Tilke-designed facility has entered into a two-year agreement with championship promoter Dorna Sports with an option to extend it to a third. The Thai circuit has been hosting WSBK since 2015 and had to host the championship for at least three years as per contract, before qualifying for MotoGP.

The India Baja 2017, organised by Northern Motorsport from 7-9 April 2017 in Rajasthan, will be a Dakar Challenge event and the winner of the event will get free entry into the Merzouga Rally in Morocco, as well as the big one - the Dakar Rally. The Dakar Challenge along with the Dakar Series serve as feeder races to the Dakar Rally, considered the toughest rally in the world.

Japanese electric motorcycle manufacturer Mugen Shinden has unveiled a new model - the Mugen Shinden Roku - the firm's sixth entry into the Isle of Man TT. "Roku" - Japanese for number "six" is so named to mark Mugen's sixth year in the iconic race. Piloted this year by John McGuinness and Guy Martin, this year's attempt will be to break the 120 mph (193 kmph) at the TT Zero event at the IOMTT.

Sebastian Vettel took the top step of the podium in the first F1 race of the 2107 calendar, held at Melbourne, Australia. He finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas from the Mercedes team. This is Vettel's second win at Melbourne after his first in 2011 with the Red Bull F1 team.
