Sherco TVS Announces Rider Line-Up For 2019 Merzouga Rally

The Sherco TVS Rally Factory Team will field a squad of three riders in the upcoming 2019 Merzouga Rally later this month. Riders Michael Metge from France, along with India's Aravind KP and Abdul Wahid Tanveer will be competing in the rally that is set to take place between March 31 and April 5, 2019, in Erfoud, Morocco. While Michael and Aravind will be competing in the 450 cc category, Tanveer will be representing the team in the Enduro category. This will be Sherco TVS Rally Team's third outing in the Merzouga Rally, and a kick-start to its Dakar 2020 campaign.

The second round of the FIM Bajas World Cup Rally ended on Sunday and Indian riders Aishwarya Pissay and Ashish Raorane traversed the challenging terrains of Portugal to complete the gruelling rally. While Ashish managed to complete the race in 27th place overall, while Aishwarya finished in 29th place in the Baja do Pinhal. Pissay though managed to bag a podium in the women's category of the rally with a third-place finish and was placed fourth in the junior category. The two-day rally saw the riders complete a course of 364.69 km.

The all-new FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) will kick-off with the Sprint de Bengaluru 2019 this weekend, marking a new era for the series. The rally this weekend will sport the new INRC logo and provide a preview of what you can expect through the series. INRC has found new series promoters - Champions Yacht Club - that promise to bring world-class fare to each of the six rounds along with international drivers. The Bengaluru rally will run over two days at the LG Champions Green County next to the Bangalore International Airport. The event will begin with the unveiling of the INRC logo.

Indian rider Aishwarya Pissay and Ashish Raorane will be competing in the second round of the FIM Bajas World Cup this weekend in Portugal. The rally marks Pissay's third international rally outing in her career, and second this year. Previously, the TVS racer participated in the first round of the Bajas Cup earlier this month competing in the dunes of Dubai. For Ashish too, this will be a follow up to the first round of the rally. Much like the first round, both Aishwarya and Ashish are participating as privateers in the event with Pissay riding the Yamaha 450 rally bike. She is supported by TVS Racing with the event part of her training and preparation. Ashish will be astride the KTM 450 rally motorcycle.

Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas dominated the 2019 Australian Grand Prix as the lights green for the Formula 1 season. Bottas edged past teammate Lewis Hamilton to secure his first win of the season and his first since the 2017 Abu Dhabi GP, with the Briton coming in second by a distant 20.886s over the race leader. Taking the final spot on the podium was Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen with the new Honda engine, marking the manufacturer's first podium finish since the 2008 British GP. In a surprise twist Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel finished fourth at the end of the race with newbie Charles Leclerc coming in fifth.
