As if the huge Dieselgate scandal wasn't damaging enough for Volkswagen as an automaker, the German car maker might soon find itself embroiled in yet another scandal. And this time, it is for its electric cars! According to reports, Volkswagen, following a ruling by the German federal Motor Transport Authority, might have to recall close to 1.25 lakh electric and plug in hybrid cars due to a small amount of cancer causing 'Cadmium' which is present in the cars. These cars include the likes of the extremely popular Volkswagen Golf GTE (click HERE to read the review) and other models from the Porsche and Audi lineup too!

This landmark order delivers the largest pure electric double-decker bus fleet in Europe.

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch yet another important product update in India. And this time, it is the highly anticipated Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift. The new car will be launched in India on august 20, 2018 and will feature some changes on the exterior and on the interior but most importantly a brand new engine family too. The new Ciaz facelift will now get a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol motor which will be mated to Maruti's mild hybrid SHVS (smart hybrid vehicle system) technology. This will also be the first time Maruti Suzuki will use the SHVS system on a petrol engine making the Ciaz the first ever offering from India's largest automaker to get a mild-hybrid option on all its engine options. Unofficial bookings for the new Ciaz have already opened at Nexa showrooms across the country with booking amounts ranging from Rs 11,000 to Rs 21,000 depending on the dealer.

Elon Musk announced on twitter that the company is currently in planning stage to introduce a mini-car version of its products, which can also, fit an adult.

According to the patent, the new system has a feature or a material that will insulate battery cells from heat generated by surrounding battery cells. The material used will most likely be some sort of new age polymer. The system will also have cooled plates or 'heat pipes' that will help remove the heat generated from battery cells in general and also that generated from damaged battery cells. Other tech will involve air gaps between cells for cooling, a sleeve that will hold the system in place and a feature that will help direct hot gasses discharging from a damaged cell in a particular direction away from other working cells.

The finance ministry is likely to approve a subsidy outlay of nearly Rs. 4,000 crore for the second phase of FAME India. Unlike the first phase, the the second phase of the scheme is expected to entail subsidy only for electric buses and setting up of charging infrastructure for all categories of vehicles.
