With the new BMW iX electric SUV, the Bavarian carmaker has joined the bandwagon of luxury carmakers like Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Jaguar, which sell fully electric SUVs in India.

The battery plant, Vietnam's first EV battery project is located in central province of Ha Tinh, on a 8-hectare (20 acre) plot.

The automated system allows the driver to focus on other activities while a car equipped with the technology is in heavy traffic or on congested highways, Mercedes-Benz said in a statement.
