What's New on Tata Harrier?
Introduction

- Tata Motors gave a mid-life refresh to its popular mid-size SUV, the Harrier, in late 2023.
- This update gave the SUV a much-needed update ever since it was first introduced in India.
- As of late 2025, the brand retails this SUV with only a diesel powertrain, which will change soon.
- The company will introduce a petrol version to compete with the Creta and Grand Vitara alongside the EV derivative launch timeline.
- But for now, prospective buyers can expect a well-packaged diesel mid-size SUV.
Exterior

- The exterior highlights of the current Harrier include new LED bars at the front and rear and tweaked bumpers.
- Up front is a new grille and LED headlamps that are now placed in the corner of the front bumpers.
- The silhouette of the car remains almost identical to the original Harrier, but it now rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.
- Otherwise, the most prominent change at the back is the 'Harrier' lettering along with new LED taillamps.
- As for the special editions, each come in a unique colour and embellishments to provide some exclusivity to a buyer.
Interior

- The current Harrier is a facelifted version, and its cabin received a major overhaul.
- The top-spec variants boast a dual-tone interior theme along with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless mobile connectivity.
- A fully digital instrument cluster comes with a new interface and can be customised according to the driver's choice.
- The old aircon control panel is now replaced by a touchscreen unit with two toggle switches.
- Moreover, the SUV now boasts an illuminated panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting.
- It also gets a JLR-inspired gear knob, JBL-sourced speaker with in-built subwoofer, air purifier, rotary dial for drive modes, and a wireless charger.
- The Harrier SUV has already scored a five-star safety rating in the global NCAP crash test.
- On the safety front, it comes equipped with seven airbags, advanced electronic stability program, ADAS with 11 safety functions, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Powertrain

- Tata Motors has not made any mechanical changes to the facelifted Harrier.
- It continues to be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine.
- This oil burner churns out 170bhp and 350Nm of torque.
- The power is sent only to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed torque converter.
- Recently, the carmaker has introduced the Harrier EV and soon there will also be a petrol Harrier.

2026 Tata Harrier Petrol Review And Opinion - Top Five Things To Know
Tata Motors has brought in the 2026 Harrier with a petrol derivative. While there are only a few cosmetic changes and feature additions, the Harrier continues to be like the existing diesel model. However, it's the first time ever the Harrier gets a petrol engine option. Hence, let's check out the top five things to know from Seshan Vijayraghvan's first drive impressions of the 2026 Tata Harrier.

- The petrol Harrier looks like the existing Harrier on sale retaining its design.
- However, Tata Motors offers two new colour options including Nitro Crimson and Carbon Black.
- Moreover, customers benefit from a 14.5-inch Samsung touchscreen, dual-channel dashcam, and auto-dipping ORVMs.

Seshan details the changes outside saying, “In terms of looks, nothing much has changed with both SUVs. You get the same exterior styling elements and cabin layout as the diesel SUV. That being said, Tata is now offering a new Nitro Red colour for both the Harrier and Safari, and both will get a dual-tone option as well with a contrast black roof. The top-spec Harrier gets 18-inch alloy wheels, while Safari rolls on a set of 19-inch dual-tone wheels.”
Pros
- Five-star crash safety
- Spacious and feature-packed cabin
- Strong torquey performance
Cons
- Firm slow-speed ride
- Clunky manual gearbox
Verdict
The Tata Harrier facelift levels up with premium style, tech, and safety. Minor quirks aside, it's a strong contender in the mid-size SUV game, now with petrol and diesel options. A solid choice for those looking for a stylish and tech-savvy ride.

- Premium car for luxurious people4.0Adventure(Diesel)After driving the Tata Harrier for a few months, I can confidently say it’s a remarkable SUV for those who value style, comfort, and performance. The 2.0-liter Kryotec diesel engine delivers excellent power and a smooth driving experience, whether in the city or on highways. The Harrier’s suspension is well-tuned, offering a stable and comfortable ride even on rough roads. Inside, the Harrier impresses with its spacious and premium cabin. The soft-touch materials, large infotainment system, and ergonomic design give it a luxurious feel. The seats are well-cushioned and provide excellent support, making long drives enjoyable. Rear seat space is generous, with ample legroom and headroom, making it ideal for families. The large boot space further adds to its practicality. The Harrier’s bold and aggressive design stands out on the road, giving it a commanding presence. Its robust build quality enhances confidence in its safety, backed by features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, and ESP. However, the Harrier has a few downsides. It lacks a 4x4 option, which might disappoint off-road enthusiasts. Additionally, the infotainment system, though feature-rich, could be more intuitive. Compared to rivals like the Jeep Compass, it offers less refined driving dynamics but compensates with better interior space and pricing. Overall, the Tata Harrier is a great choice for those seeking a stylish, comfortable, and spacious SUV. It strikes an excellent balance between value and performance, making it a strong contender in its segment.By Yahana SanaPosted on: Nov 21, 2024 04:34 PM00
- Good SUV spacious and comfortable but3.0Pure Plus S Dark AT(Diesel)The Harrier offers a smooth ride and looks great. However, the service costs are a bit high. but engine noise is too loud and annoying Could use more power for highway driving.By Nalin KhuranaPosted on: Oct 11, 2024 03:30 PM00
- luxurious suv from tata3.0Pure(Diesel)Tata Harrier has a premium feel. The interior is luxurious, and it’s packed with modern features but the infotainment system sometimes lags. Otherwise, a solid choice.By Ratish NairPosted on: Oct 10, 2024 05:11 PM00
- Dont like the boot space4.0Pure(Diesel)Good SUV for daily use. The Harrier handles well, but the fuel efficiency could be improved. Harrier is reliable and comfortable. However, the boot space is a bit less for long trips. Innova Crysta would be the better choice.By Raja KPosted on: Sep 25, 2024 03:57 PM00
- The perfect and Comfortable in SUV family.5.0Fearless Dark(Diesel)i am driving the Tata Harrier for 3 years now, and it's the perfect family SUV. The comfortable seats, advanced features, and reliable performance make it ideal for long drives. I absolutely love the design, and the engine is both powerful and efficient. The infotainment system is top-notch, adding to the overall experience. It's stylish, fuel-efficient, and offers a smooth driving experience whether I’m in the city or on the highway. The handling is great, and the build quality feels solid. My only gripe is that it feels a bit bulky in tight city spaces, but otherwise, it’s been a fantastic SUV.By Nakul AhujaPosted on: Sep 23, 2024 03:41 PM00
