Expert Review on Tata 2025 Altroz
Pros
- 5-Star Gncap Rating
- Spacious Cabin
- Turbo Engine Option / Dca
Cons
- Less On Features
- Too Many Variants
- Not Premium Enough
Lots of features on offer and a 5-star crash test rating for the Altroz makes it a well-rounded package, and with the growing demand for DCT vehicles in the segment, Tata hopes that this trend will catapult the Tata Altroz DCA as the most preferred vehicle in the market.
Tata Altroz
Tata Motors has upped its game considerably across segments, and the premium hatchback segment is no exception. The Altroz has become a formidable rival to the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai i20.
The Tata Altroz is a looker from all angles. It sports a truly unique design with its signature front fascia and grille, which smoothly integrates into the headlamps while extruding nicely alongside. The LED daytime running lights have also been fused into the fog lamps at the lower end of the bumper, while there are several body lines and creases all around the car as well. The car sports a kinetic and engaging design template, while coming with a dual-tone rear theme and a blacked-out tailgate in tandem with edgy taillights as well.
Petrol | 1199 cc | 86 PS | 113 Nm |
---|---|---|---|
Petrol | 1199 cc (Turbo) | 110 PS | 140 Nm |
Diesel | 1497 cc | 90 PS | 200 Nm |
The Tata Altroz gets three engine choices, namely the 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engine, the 1.5 litre Revotorq turbocharged engine, and the turbocharged version of the petrol engine. The petrol engine offers decent refinement till you get to around 100 kmph. Thereafter, it has a little noise. The engine offers good delivery of power although it does not come with the punchy feel that you expect. The diesel engine is an excellent performer, with ample power on tap, although there is a surge again upon crossing 1700 RPM after that initial lag. The diesel engine is refined, you only hear the noise once you really push the throttle. All the engines have 5-speed manual transmission choices while the petrol engine comes with the DCT 6-speed automatic transmission option.
- Diesel Manual- 23 kmpl
- Petrol Manual- 18.53 kmpl
- Petrol Automatic- 18.53 kmpl
The Tata Altroz offers good driving with its capability to tackle broken and rough roads with no jitters. The Altroz offers a good ride at both low and high speeds, with decent handling as well. There is a wee bit of body roll when you fling the car around the corner. However, there is excellent tyre grip along with a well-tuned suspension system as well. The steering is also responsive in terms of its overall feedback.
The interiors are plush and comfortable. The Tata Altroz comes with a neat floating touch screen infotainment system, which is positioned smartly. The dashboard has a good color theme, while the Harman audio unit is also punchy. The semi-digital instrument console is brand new, offering helpful driver information as well. The flat-bottomed steering wheel has a nice feel to it, along with steering mounted buttons as well. The front seats feel comfortable with great cushioning and overall support. The cabin gets several cubby holes and door pockets with the slot for an umbrella as well. The glove box comes with 15 litres of space and cooling, in tandem with a removable tray as well. There is also a nifty sliding armrest in the front. The rear offers sizable legroom and headroom. There are rear AC vents available too. The only thing is that the backrest angle at the rear is slightly stiff, and this may lead to a little tiredness after covering long distances. Boot space of 345 litres is of course, a plus point.
The Tata Altroz comes with a 7-inch floating touch screen infotainment unit with the Harman audio setup. There is also the semi-digital instrument console with several other connectivity features. Cruise control is also present. It also gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with ambient lighting.
The Tata Altroz offers great safety features including dual airbags, EBD, ABS, rear parking sensors, high-speed alerts, front passenger seat belt warning, and more.
The ideal budget variant would be the XM+ in the petrol guise or the XM Rhythm pack for the diesel version. This will get you the touch screen and other features along with drive modes, electrically folding mirrors and other features. The diesel will get you the rear camera as well. If you can stretch it, you can opt for the XZ variant which offers a lot more features including projector headlamps, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, knitted roof liner, color MID, auto wiper and headlamp, cruise control, and more. The XZ (O) only comes with the additional dual-tone roof for a slight premium.
The Altroz competes with rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Toyota Glanza, and others. The Altroz gets front fog lamps and projector units, measuring up well in the segment, with touch screen infotainment, connectivity features, and voice commands. The Altroz gets ambient lighting for the central console and the part-digital console. It also has rear AC vents and cruise control. It has several other segment-firsts, along with the combination of automatic wipers and headlamps.
The Tata Altroz delivers good performance for buyers along with a refined set of engines and good ride quality. It has a wide range of features, albeit at a premium, and looks supremely stylish. The car offers a unique aesthetic along with plush interiors, decent space, and good safety features as well. It could well be a solid rival to the Baleno and the i20 in the segment that they have dominated all these years. The Altroz is ideal for those seeking something completely unique yet spacious in this category. With its mix of features, performance, and design, it justifies its sticker price.

Tata Altroz, The Gold Standard... Tata Altroz is the company's first venture in premium hatchback segment. This is safer and packed with features let's explore Th this Gold Standard Car.... ×Design The design of the Tata Altroz doesnot resemble any car till now. Th e looks are given as a part of 'Impact 2.0' that is the design language followed by Tata Motors. From front the position of the fog lamps are seen a little above the regular placement. Even though the car gets projector headlights, they are not LEDs. The tripod stand like grill slots look appealing. This design is followed somewhere also. From the side we have certain elements to note. The piano black finish for the ORVMs and the positioning of turn indicators to the body are some of them. The rear door handle also have been moved to the C pillar. The 16 inch alloys looks well proportionate to the car. Towards the back side we can see the blacked taillights. Like I said above the rear end is also distinct with its cutting edges. Getting in is not a task at all. The doors open widely at 90° making it even easy for older people. The interior have a floating touch screen infotainment panel surrounded by an ambient light setup. Automatic AC controls below it and certain ports like the USB& AUX ports. The car have a semi-digital instrument cluster. Analog speedometer & digital tachometer and other informations. The seats are supportive and offer a good support. They also have a tripod base shaped arrangements on them. Both the front and rear seats have rear armrests. Also like the i20, this car also have rear AC vents. The boot is practical to have luggages for a family trip. You can also flip the back row seats fully to expand the luggage area. No 60:40 splitting is possible. ×Driving and comfort The car is powered by a 1.2 liter revotron petrol engine and a 1.5 liter revotorq diesel engine both are BS6 complaintand are mated to a 5 speed manual gear box no automatic till now but will be released in coming dates. The petrol motor gives 85hp and 113 nm, its a three cylinder engine. But despite being a 3 cylinder mill, the engine is punchy enough to pull the car due to its light weight This motor is seen in the nexon also. The diesel motor is a 4 cylinder one seen in the nexon. But it is detuned to 89hp and 200 nm this is the kingmaker "the gold standard" as said by Tata. This is a punchy motor since the torque output is got from a very low RPM, this is peppy enough and enthusiastic to drive. Both these engines have two driving options City& Eco. No sports mode, don't know why Tata avoided it. The mode selector is seen behind the gear lever. This mode. hanges the theme from blue to green. Top trim also gets cruise control setup. The suspension is good enough but you can feel the comfort when you glide over a pathole. Brilliant work by Tata engineers. ×Infotainment The car is packed with Harman's 6 speaker system. The floating touch screen is easy to use compared to previous Tata cars. The sound quality is brilliant and is class leading. You can customize the theme colour as your wish. ×Variants Altroz is available from base xe, xm, xt, xz& xz(o) . The car also packs with various options that includes factory fitted customisations they are Rhythm,Style,Luxe& Urban. These options are available on various levels. ×Safety Tata means safety this car scored 5 stars in global NCAP being the second Indian car to scor it and the first car in its segment to score so. The company packs the car with 2 airbags ABS& EBD as standard. ×For whom is this car??? If you want your family to travel in comfort& safe. Then you can choose this car. If you are an enthusiastic driver and all you need is a diesel hatchback then you may go for this car. Because this is the only car in its segment to offer a BS-6 complaint diesel engine. ×Comparing with competitors Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, VW Polo are the main competetors. Comparing with them we see that Altroz is stronger than Baleno and its diesel engine is excellent, but coming to petrol baleno scores the more. The i20 is the feature rich car here it also have Hyundai's reliability and offers a 6th gear that its rivals misses. The 1.4litre CRDI diesel and 1.2litre petrol engines are also appreciable. Honda Jazz may be the car with lower specs. But the magic that honda does with its petrol mill is something that none can match with. VW Polo is the synonym of sportiness inthis segment its diesel engine having a nice performance too. But taking care of a VW car is a bit tasky. ×Verdict The Tata Altroz is a car that a common man can buy it is sufficiently powerfull (diesei motor), and the best in safety. It also offers segment first features like floating screen& ambient lighting

I bought this car on 15th feb, till now I have an amazing driver experience. On an average mileage of 15 KMPL. You will just love the comfort it offers compared to its rivals. Its is too spacious and Beautiful inside. All the reviews I read, people say it is a Little underpowered, but I would consider it to be a decently powered car. In all, I give this car a 5 star (Just ignoring a few cons which all cars have). Thanks to Tata for this 5 star safety car. Power to TATA

I drove 2000kms in 1 month and its mileage is 16kmpl in city . I hope it will give good results in future. Go for this car if you are looking for premium hatchback its rivalries are i20 and baleno.
