Tata Tigor, the eagerly awaited subcompact sedan, is set to become the carmaker's second major launch this year. Scheduled to go on sale on 29 March, 2017, Tigor is the third model to be based on Tata Motors's IMPACT design tenet. Underpinned by the same platform as the Tiago, Tata refers to the Tigor as a 'Styleback', thanks to its intriguing rear design. Take a look at the sedan's specifications, features, and dimensions.

Honda is now developing a brand new global car platform with a strong focus on India. The new platform could spawn a premium compact car, sedan and SUV in the future.

Volkswagen has already announced its line-up for India this year and the first car of the lot to hit the market will be the all-new Volkswagen Tiguan SUV. VW will launch the car in India in May 2017 while bookings for the SUV will begin in April.

Let's call a spade a spade and acknowledge the fact that India is just about opening up to the hybrid car market. The response to the Toyota Camry hybrid was an eye opener for sure and the Government of India supported this by introducing the FAME scheme which provided incentives for car manufacturers and customers who opt for hybrid cars. A lot of car makers have already introduced their share of hybrid cars in India and now Hyundai too is jumping on this bandwagon. Hyundai will launch the Ioniq plug-in hybrid in India by 2018. The car maker will showcase the car at the Delhi Auto Expo followed by the launch later that year.

Toyota will finally bring us the much discussed and anticipated Vios compact sedan next year. The Vios is a compact sedan and will be going up against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, and the new-generation Hyundai Verna that's coming this year. Toyota Kirloskar Motor will showcase the Vios at the Auto Expo in February next year, with a market launch and price announcement soon after in April.
