2017 Financial Year and if anything it has been quite an eventful year for the India auto sector. Right from the ban on diesel cars in Delhi to demonetization of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes, automakers in India have faced several challenges in this fiscal year. Despite that, many of them have seen consistent growth in the market and two of the country's leading carmakers - Maruti Suzuki India and Hyundai India are one among them. Both the carmakers have registered positive growth for the month of February 2017 and here are the detailed sales figures.

While was still a slow month for most bike makers in the country, February has brought some respite. Royal Enfield and Honda turned out to be the flag bearers of positive sales, growing by 19 per cent and 5 per cent respectively in domestic sales. The other manufactuers too have followed suit. Here's how each bike maker fared in February 2017.

The Tata Hexa has clocked 1498 units in January this year, its first month of sale. Tata Motors' new flagship has been one of the highly awaited launches this year and was finally introduced officially on 17th January with prices starting at Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). A Hexa is a major departure from the Aria, the model it replaces and competes with the Mahindra XUV500 and Toyota Innova Crysta in the segment.

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis was launched on 13th January, 2017, precisely a month ago. And in just about 18 days, the company has managed to sell over 4,800 units already. It will be safe to say that the Ignis has had a fantastic start to its sales. The Ignis was launched amidst much fanfare and an EDM concert which featured international music artist Axwell too.

Society Of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) released the overall automotive sales data for the month of January, 2017 and it does look like that the Indian automotive industry slowly but surely coming out of the slump in the months of November, 2016 and December, 2016 on the account of Indian government's demonetisation drive.

Ever since it was launched in 2013, the Grand i10 proved to be a winner for Hyundai India, with sales ranging from as high as 15,000 units a month to no less than 8,000 units. The Grand i10 Facelift should do even better for the Korean company.

Bajaj and Hero MotoCorp see a dip in the sales in January, 2017 as compared to the figures in January, 2016. Honda Two-Wheelers see a slight growth of 2 per cent while Royal Enfield saw a growth of 23 per cent.

January 2017 have seen manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Nissan post positive sales figures, while Tata Motors, Mahindra and Honda India have been struggled due to negative growth. Amidst plant shutdowns and the demonetisation effect still lingering, here's how auto manufacturers faired in the previous month.
