The overall two-wheeler industry grew by over 10 per cent in the first two quarters of the financial year. Honda, TVS, Suzuki, Royal Enfield and Piaggio grew above average in two-wheeler sales in the same period.

In August alone, Piaggio registered sales growth of 189 per cent in the company's range of 125 cc and 150 cc scooters. But overall, it's the 150 cc scooter segment which is displaying increasing sales volumes and growth, registering a massive 346 per cent growth.

Sales of luxury brands BMW and Mercedes-Benz were up 6.7 percent and 7.5 percent respectively, while Volkswagen's Audi brand edged up by only 0.9 percent and the core VW brand plunged by 11 percent, KBA said.

For the month of August 2017, the sales of Bajaj Auto has dipped by 7 per cent. On the other hand, Suzuki saw its highest ever monthly sales with 56,745 units sold in August 2017.

Post GST implementation automakers like Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai, and Honda Cars India among others have been registering double digit growth and the positive streak can been seen August sales as well.

Sales of Yamaha in Asia grow, while Europe remains flat. But Yamaha's sales in the US have fallen, similar to what Harley-Davidson reported sometime back

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is one of the more popular hatchbacks in the country and the sales report for July 2017 echoes the same. The top selling cars list for the previous month are out and the Baleno has recorded its highest ever sales with 19,153 units, a growth of 110 per cent over the same period last year.
