Carlos Ghosn To Continue As Renault Chairman Despite Corruption Allegations
Renault-Nissan Chairman and CEO- Carlos Ghosn will not immediately be ousted of the company as the Board is unable to comment on the gathered evidence against Ghosn by Nissan and Japanese judicial authorities. However, Ghosn is temporarily incapacitated of his position and the Board of Directors have appointed Thierry Bollore as the temporary Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will be leading the management for the time being and will be exercising the same powers which Carlos Ghosn had as the CEO of the company.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Daimler declined to comment on whether it was open to collaboration with Tesla, but a spokesman said it was pleased by Musk's interest in the van. Outgoing Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche was reported as telling a Polish newspaper last month that he did not rule out cooperating with Tesla in future, even though the German luxury car producer had sold its stake in the U.S. electric vehicles company. Company veteran Ola Kaellenius was recently named to become Daimler's first non-German chief executive from next year.

Eight months after Mahindra and Ford had announced to explore a strategic partnership to work on electric vehicles; Mahindra has shared details about the recent development. And carandbike can now confirm that Mahindra Electric, a completely owned subsidiary of the Mahindra & Mahindra which expertizes in Electric Vehicles will lead the alliance by providing the technology to develop new electric vehicles. Exclusively speaking to carandbike on the sidelines of the Mahindra Treo electric three-wheeler launch, Dr. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director and CEO, Mahindra & Mahindra said, "The alliance is not concluded yet. We are still working on as to what the alliance should exactly be and we are looking at the vehicles' platforms that Ford has. But even in that alliance the electric technology comes from Mahindra Electric. Ineos Chief Executive Officer Jim Ratcliffe said last year that an off-roader modeled on Land Rover's classic Defender could be rolling off British production lines if the owner of petrochemicals giant can win government backing for it. Ratcliffe had also said he would invest 600 million pounds ($770.16 million) to begin output of the new off-roader from 2020-21, adding that he would prefer to build in Britain but that there are cheaper alternatives in countries such as Germany where the workforce is already trained.

A transport ministry spokesman said the debate had become "highly emotional" in the car-loving nation where the auto industry is a pillar of economic growth and employs some 800,000 people. "Closing motorways deprives our country of mobility," the spokesman told reporters. "Mobility is the foundation of our prosperity, of our growth, of employment. That's what we mean by self-destructive."

BMW and the German Bobsleigh, Luge, and Skeleton Federation (BSD) have been engaged in an intensive collaboration since the 1980s, during which time they have worked closely together to optimise equipment, race overalls and helmets. Since 2010, BMW has been Premium and Technology Partner, a role that has seen the Munich-based company use its automotive expertise to help the federation win numerous medals and titles. The technological support gained from BMW engineers is now being expanded and a two-man bobsled prototype developed for Germany. The first tests on the ice track are planned for the end of 2018.
