Nissan Board Fires Chairman Carlos Ghosn
Nissan's board ousted Chairman Carlos Ghosn on Thursday after the shock arrest of the industry heavyweight, Japanese broadcaster NHK reported without citing sources, ushering in a period of uncertainty for its 19-year alliance with Renault. A Nissan Motor Co spokesman declined to comment. The Franco-Japanese alliance, enlarged in 2016 to include Japan's Mitsubishi Motors, has been rattled to its core by Ghosn's arrest in Japan on Monday, with the 64-year-old group chairman accused of financial misconduct. Ghosn had shaped the alliance and was pushing for a deeper tie-up, including potentially a full Renault-Nissan merger at the French government's urging, despite strong reservations at the Japanese firm.

Volvo XC90 Plug-In Hybrid To Be Locally Assembled In India By The End Of 2019

Volvo Auto India today announced that it will start local assembly of the XC90 PHEV variant by the end of 2019. The company launched the plug-in Hybrid variant of the XC90 in India early this year and we told you all about it. It's currently priced at Rs. 1.25 crore (ex-showroom India). It was in late 2017 that Volvo started assembling the XC90 in India and followed up it up by assembling the S90 at its Bengaluru plant. It was in September this year, that the company started to assemble the XC60 which has been a great seller for the company. The XC90 plug-in Hybrid adds on to this line-up.

The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been launched in India. The prices for the petrol manual variant start at Rs. 7.44 lakh and the prices for the petrol automatic start at Rs. 9.18 lakh. The diesel variant prices start at Rs. 8.84 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. In total, there are 10 trims of the Ertiga available in five colour choices and two engine options. The new-generation Ertiga is built on Maruti's Heartect platform and also gets a new 1.5-litre petrol engine along with the old 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine unit. The overall design is completely new and the Ertiga has grown bigger in size as well.

The Porsche 911 GT3 has become the fastest road-legal production car at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC). Porsche's racing inspired 911 GT3 managed to break the previous lap record by 2.2 seconds set by the Mercedes-AMG GT R. The Porsche 911 GT3 now holds the new lap record at India's only F1 grade circuit with a time of 2m7.6s. Helping achieve this massive feat was India's first Formula 1 driver, Narain Karthikeyan. The record is officially certified by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI). The Porsche 911 GT3 was launched last year in India at a price of Rs. 2.31 crore (ex-showroom).

The DoJ is coordinating with the U.S. transport regulator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), on the investigation, the person said, asking not to be identified as the matter is confidential. Nicole Navas Oxman, a DoJ spokeswoman, declined to comment. "The Justice Department generally does not confirm, deny or otherwise comment on the existence or non-existence of an investigation," she said in an emailed statement to Reuters.
