Tata Altroz Dual Clutch Automatic: All You Need To Know

Tata Motors recently launched the automatic version of its premium hatchback, the Altroz in India. Dubbed at the Tata Altroz DCA or Dual Clutch Automatic, as the name suggest, the car comes with a dual clutch transmission, making it the first car from the home-grown automaker to get this technology. So far Tata cars, including the company's existing line-up of products, have only come with either an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) or a conventional torque converter unit. Here's everything else that you need to know about Tata Altroz DCA.

- The Tata Altroz DCA is offered in a total of seven variants - XM+, XT, XZ, XZ(O), and XZ+ along with #Dark edition models of the XT and XZ+ variants. Prices for these begin from Rs. 8.10 lakh, going up to Rs. 9.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
- The Altroz DCA gets a brand-new Opera Blue colour. In addition, the Altroz DCA will be a part of the #Dark range other than being available in the Downtown Red, Arcade Grey, Avenue White and Harbour Blue colour.
- The Tata Altroz DCA is offered only with the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 86 bhp @6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque @3,300 rpm. The 1.2-litre iTurbo unit and the 1.5-litre diesel motor continue to come with the 5-speed manual unit as standard.

However, the DCA variant is heavier by almost 20 kg over the manual sibling.
- Tata says the new DCA gearbox is tuned specifically for the Indian roads and climatic conditions, with wet clutch with active cooling technology, machine learning and shift-by-wire technology. The transmission system also get what Tata calls Self-healing mechanism, which clears dust particles, so performance isn't hampered.
- The Altroz DCA also comes with an Auto Park Lock function that engages the parking brake in case the driver forgets to do so before getting out of the vehicle.
- Other standard features include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7.0-inch part-digital instrument cluster, keyless entry with push-button start-stop, automatic climate control, iRA rain-sensing wipers, and leatherette upholstery to name a few.
