One of the first concepts that you study in Economics is perfect competition! And a near perfect example of that in the Indian automobile industry is the subcompact SUV segment! With the coming of the Renault Kiger, Indian car buyers have nine car models to choose from, with each model getting multiple variants too! So, it is a problem of plenty, you see. And yes! It is a motley crew of subcompact SUVs that we have here! The Kiger is proverbial ‘new kid on the block’; the Venue was the winner of our last subcompact SUV shootout, beating the Sonet. And the Tata Nexon is here since it wasn’t a part of our previous subcompact SUV comparison! So, does the Kiger have enough mettle to fend off its established rivals or not? Time to find out! The Honda Drive To Discover has entered its tenth edition, and this year the drive was from Bengaluru to Goa. Of course, with all due COVID protocols in place! We had had the entire fleet of Honda cars at our disposal for this trim, including its current flagship, the new-gen City. On this 800+ kilometre drive, Seshan Vijayraghvan got to cover everything from the pristine coffee plantations of Chikmagalur and the coastal cuisines of Mangluru, to the beaches of Kundapura and Goa.

The electric vehicle space in India is going to grow by leaps and bounds. We tell you all about electric cars and electric two-wheelers, which will be launched in India this year. The made in India Renault Triber has achieved an impressive 4 star rating for adult occupant protection, in a crash test conducted by Global NCAP. The Global NCAP 'Safer Cars for India' initiative has been on since 2014. The Renault Triber is the first car crash tested in 2021. The Triber scored 3 stars for child occupant protection in the rear. Given the subcompact MPV's positioning as an affordable mass-market product these scores are significant. Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled the updated, 2021 Triumph Speed Twin, which now gets more performance, different suspension and tyres, as well as other minor cosmetic updates. For now, the 2021 Speed Twin has just been unveiled, but we expect the new Speed Twin to be launched in India in the next couple of months, at a slight premium than before.

Following the introduction of the one-off Rolls-Royce Sweptail in 2017, the uber-luxury carmaker has decided to make coachbuilding a permanent part of the company' future portfolio. The newest offering from this division is the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail. The North-East is a gem! Hidden away from the regular touristy crowd, all seven states offer raw scenic beauty beyond imagination. And the state of Arunachal Pradesh is filled with such scenes, which not only take your breath away, but fills your lungs with pristine, crisp mountain air at the same time. We were invited for the first ever 2021 Trans Arunachal Drive, organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arunachal Pradesh, in partnership with Mahindra Adventure and JK Tyre and it was a drive that added wonderful colour, beautiful new memories and years to our lives. The prevailing COVID-19 situation has kept us homebound and our cars are again parked for a long while, thanks to the second wave of this deadly virus that has gripped India. Nevertheless, it's also important to take care of our vehicles when they are parked for such a long time. So here's a list of few car accessories that you must have handy in these testing times.

Ducati Panigale V2 is the perfect example of a true-blue Italian sportbike. It's all about power, performance, and speed, and the V2 looks the part, almost mirroring the sporty and purposeful stance of its bigger Panigale V4 siblings. It replaces the Ducati 959 Panigale as Ducati's new middleweight sportbike, and it only gets a minor bump in power, with 155 bhp on offer, and a 955 cc engine, which is closer to 'superbike' territory, than a middleweight. In our review of the Audi S5 Sportback, we covered the driving dynamics, features and looks of this beast. But now is the time for our tech check, which takes a look at the gadgets and technology inside the car. And while the Audi doesn't have a lot going on, there are some spectacular bits. Maruti Suzuki India recently launched a mid-life facelift for its popular compact hatch Swift. Along with a bunch of cosmetic updates, the 2021 Maruti Suzuki Swift also comes in new dual-tone colours, new and updated features, and a more powerful petrol engine. There is a new powertrain as well with the older 1.2-litre K-Series motor replaced with the new-generation 1.2-litre Dual Jet VVT petrol engine that is also seen on the Baleno hatchback. The new engine also comes with increased power output, up from 82 bhp to 88 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 4,200 rpm. This week's carandbike show is action-packed.

Does the new entry-level KTM Adventure have what it takes to be a successful and compelling buy for the newbie adventure rider? We spend some time hustling it in traffic, on the highway and on some trails to see what it's capable of. And next, we drive the Toyota Urban Cruiser, which is essentially a re-badged version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. So, how different is it from the Vitara Brezza and does it get revised features? What about the design? We answer all these questions in our comprehensive Toyota Urban Cruiser Review, which is among the many subcompact SUVs launched in India this year.

The wait for the new Volvo S60 has been a little too long for India. Well, it is a new car only in the Indian context. Globally, the car has been on sale for almost a couple of years now! The S60 is a new model ground-up and completes the 60-series family of Volvo in India along-side the XC60 and it will be positioned below Volvo's flagship sedan, the S90! In terms of drivetrain, the S60 will get a 2.0-litre petrol engine couple with an 8-speed automatic gearbox for now. But there's no diesel and that may dissuade potential customers in India. So, we finally get behind the wheel of the newest luxury sedan in the market and see what it has to offer. We also give you a glimpse of the carandbike awards from the past as the 2021 awards season comes closer. Finally, we have the review of the Honda Hornet 2.0, which replaces the Honda CB Hornet 160R, with a bigger 184 cc engine and new chassis, promising sportier performance. But its real test will be if it can manage to wean away buyers considering one of the 200s, which are better-featured, better-specced, and with some horsepower advantage as well.

With the coming of the Nissan Magnite, the subcompact SUV segment in India has been shaken and stirred, particularly because of the disruptive pricing of the Magnite. So, it is only prudent that we pit it against the two reigning cars in the segment, the Hyundai Venue and the Kia Sonet. The new Nissan SUV has its work cut out in the segment and could very well be the make-or-break model for Nissan in India. And then, we move to the other end of the SUV spectrum where we spend some time with the big, bold and fast BMW X5 M. Yes! The X5 M is an out-and-out performance SUV and thrilling to say the least.
