Tokyo Motorcycle Show: Honda CB1000R Carbon Edition Unveiled
Highlights
- The 2018 Honda CB1000R is inspired from the Neo Sports Cafe Concept
- The one-off CB1000R custom has liberal doses of carbon fibre
- The Honda CB1000R custom is built by Japanese firm Magical Racing
A custom Honda CB1000R Carbon Edition has been revealed at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show 2018. The one-off custom, built by Japanese firm Magical Racing features a lot of carbon fibre parts on the CB1000R. The wheels are full carbon fibre, including the single-sided rear rim, and the bodywork is infused with carbon fibre, with a carbon fibre fender and hugger, airbox plates and chainguard. Even the handlebar is made of carbon fibre. The exhaust is a Spec-A system from Yamamoto Racing, with a gold anodised silencer.
The Honda CB1000R has been relaunched for 2018 with a massive change in styling, a new electronics package and numerous performance upgrades. Built on the Honda Neo Sports Café Concept, the 2018 Honda CB1000R sports a completely new design and was one of the most attractive new motorcycles at the EICMA 2018 show in Milan. The CB1000R was first launched in 2007, and is a far more street-friendly variant of the race-oriented Honda CBR1000RR superbike.
The 2018 CB1000R gets a completely new design from the ground up, with a unique neo-retro design. It gets a new steel chassis, aluminium swingarm along with Showa suspension, and all of this has made the bike lose some weight from the earlier model. The CB1000R features a host of new electronics featuring four main riding modes - Standard, Sport, Rain and User - a customisable option.
The CB1000R utilises the previous generation's 998 cc in-line four cylinder engine which puts out over 143 bhp at 10,500 rpm. The bike makes 20 per cent more power than the previous model and the lighter weight has also resulted in a better power-to-weight ratio. Needless to say, the custom CB1000R with an abundance of carbon fibre parts, will be even more lighter than the stock CB1000R.
