The automobile industry body says that the tight deadlines for two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturers will disrupt the industry, already facing challenges due to BS-VI regulations and new safety norms.

Norway's power grid is likely to need an 11 billion crown ($1.27 billion) upgrade over the next 20 years to meet demand from the country's growing fleet of electric cars, with consumers likely to have to foot the bill, a study has shown.

Michelin and General Motors presented a new generation of airless wheel technology for passenger vehicles. It's called the Uptis Prototype (or "Unique Punctureproof Tyre System") - at the Movin'On Summit for sustainable mobility. The joint research agreement will see both the companies validate the Uptis Prototype with the goal of introducing the Uptis on passenger models as early as 2024.

German auto components maker ZF has developed the world's first pre-crash occupant safety system with an external side airbag. The manufacturer gave a live demonstration of the new safety technology in Memmingen, Germany, which saw an external side airbag being deployed just milliseconds before a collision. The company says that the new technology provides an additional lateral crumple zone, which can help save lives and reduce occupant injury by over 40 per cent. To make the system work, ZF has networked the airbags to the vehicle's sensor systems and has developed algorithms that are capable of determining if a crash is imminent and then decide to deploy the airbag.

Ground clearance is heightened by 47 mm, with the car's front approach sharpened by 1 per cent and the departure angle enhanced by 6.5 per cent.

Mahindra confirms that it will be launching BS6 compliant engines in its models this year. The BS6 petrol models will be launched in the next 2-3 months while the diesel BS6 models will be launched towards the end of 2019 or early 2020.

Renault has unveiled an all-new electric light commercial vehicle (LCV) concept, Renault EZ-FLEX, at the recently concluded Viva Tech 2019, in Paris. Designed to be an improved and efficient mobility solution for urban delivery system, the new Renault EZ-FLEX concept is an experimental, electric and connected LCV that is compact and easy to handle and features a modular rear design, for different applications.
