Passenger car sales in the country went up by 12.87 per cent in December, 2015 as compared to the year before. However two-wheeler sales dropped by 3.10 per cent.

For the first time in its 89-year history, Volvo Cars has achieved the momentous milestone of having crossed the half a million mark in terms of number of vehicles sold in a single year.

All segments including commercial vehicles and two-wheelers have performed positively with October being the twelfth month to see consecutive growth.

Launched in August, 2015, Ford India's first sub-compact sedan - the Figo Aspire - has received an overwhelming response in its very first month. The company retailed a total of 5,176 units of the Figo Aspire in August, thus making it the second best-selling sub-4 metre sedan in the month.

Honda Cars India has high expectations from the new-generation Honda Jazz that is set to launch on July 8, 2015. And things appear to be going in favour of the company, as it has already received over 2,336 bookings of the car even before its launch.

Tata Motors launched the Zest and Bolt with high expectations, but their sales numbers have been very disappointing. Both the products recorded their worst ever monthly sales in April 2015.

The company claims to have sold a total of 51,553 units of the Scorpio in the financial year 2015, which is the highest ever annual sales for the brand ever since its introduction. However, the growth of the Scorpio has been insubstantial since the annual sales numbers for the SUV has been hovering around 50,000 for last four years.

Indian passenger car market ended 2014-15 on a positive note with carmakers like Maruti Suzuki India, Honda and Hyundai posting their highest ever domestic sales in a financial year. Toyota and Nissan, too, did fairly well.
