Highlights
- This is the highest figure achieved by the Vitara Brezza since its launch
- Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza crossed the 1 lakh bookings mark in July
- Company is planning to ramp up the production to 10,000 units per month
Maruti Suzuki first introduced the Vitara Brezza in India at the 2016 Auto Expo, where it became the showstopper for the event. The Vitara Brezza's aggressive stance and the stylish exterior profile were the major selling point for the car before the launch itself. In the first month alone, Maruti sold over 5,500 units of the compact SUV, which crossed the average of over 7,000 units a month in April, May, June and now the sales have crossed the 10,000 mark. In fact, Maruti Suzuki India has posted the best-ever monthly sales in July 2016.
Another example of the Vitara Brezza's growing popularity has been the recent surge in demand, which has currently taken the bookings of the SUV to over 1 lakh orders in less than four months. Such remarkable numbers are often accompanied by a substantial waiting period - which in the Maruti Vitara Brezza's case currently comes around 8 - 9 months. To meet the growing demand and bring down the long waiting period, the company recently claimed that it will ramp up the production of the Vitara Brezza to 10,000 units per month, which brings the yearly production figures to 1.2 lakh units per annum.
Coming to the car itself, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza shares its design and styling cues with its older sibling - the Suzuki Vitara, while the features have been borrowed from the carmaker's popular premium hatchback, Baleno. This means the Vitara Brezza comes with segment first features like touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and Apple CarPlay, reverse parking camera, push-button start, cruise control, cooled upper glovebox, and sliding front armrest among more. The safety features remain the same with dual airbags, ABS and EBD offered.
Currently, the Maruti Vitara Brezza comes powered by the company's tried and tested 1.3-litre four-cylinder DDiS 200 that churns out 89bhp at 4000rpm and develops a peak torque of 200Nm at 1750rpm. The diesel motor is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and offers an ARAI-certified fuel-efficiency of 24.3Km/l.
