Honda's Marc Marquez now has a 33 point lead over title contender Andrea Dovizioso of Ducati for the championship. Maverick Vinales of Yamaha is out of the contention, 50 points back with two rounds to go.

Bringing an end to a host of speculations, McLaren announced that Fernando Alonso will continue to be a part of the Woking-based outfit for the 2018 Formula One season, ahead of the US GP this weekend. The two-time world champion's future at McLaren had been under scrutiny for the most part of the year after a highly frustrating campaign this year over engine and reliability concerns.

Volkswagen has announced that it will try and break the Pikes Peak electric vehicle hill climb record with a purpose built race car. Although official images of the race car haven't been revealed just yet, Volkswagen has teased a silhouette of the frankly insane looking race car that is poised to take on the challenge. The car will be driven by Romain Dumas who is an ex-winner at Pikes Peak and also an ex record holder himself. The current record of 8 mins 13.878 seconds was established in 2013 by none other than legendary rally driver Sebastian Loeb in a purpose built Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak which featured outlandish wings to add to the aero downforce.

The Meco Motorsports FMSCI National Rotax Karting Championship came to a close last weekend with Bangalore boys Yash Aradhaya and Arjun Rajiv clinching the top honours. Yash won the championship in the Junior Max category while Arjun took the title in the Micro Max category. Mumbai's Aaroh Ravindra showed exemplary skill winning the prestigious Senior Max championship with a massive lead.

Willi Weber, former manager of Michael Schumacher, believes the family of the Formula One legend should reveal about the real condition and should be completely honest with his fans. Schumacher, who holds the record of seven Formula One titles and 91 race wins between 1991 and 2006, suffered from head injuries while skiing during a French Alps vacation in 2013.

Indian racing contingent Aditya Patel was the first runner up in the inaugural Blancpain GT Series Asia losing out to Hunter Abbott. Patel lost the title by a single point, despite hm and his teammate Mitch Gilbert registering a double win over the weekend, becoming the first crew ever crew to do so in the series.

The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) has appointed industrialist and auto enthusiast Gautam Singhania as India's representative in the World Motor Sports Council (WMSC). The post was previously held by former UB Group boss Vijay Mallya.

Ducati Team's Andrea Dovizioso took his fifth win of this year in the Japanese Grand Prix in a final lap showdown with points leader Marc Marquez of Honda. The riders put up one of the most dramatic finishes in MotoGP as the victor seemed uncertain down to the final 'Victory' corner.
