There's a major challenge though as we head in to the Marrakech E-Prix as we'll be witnessing a revision in schedule. The Punta del Este E-Prix is in mid-March is back on the calendar, after the organisers in Sao Paulo requested an additional year to prepare.

The 5th stage kicked off from San Juan De Marcona to move to Arequipa which was the rally's last stop in Peru. The rally now moves into Bolivia.

Indian riders Aravind KP and CS Santosh showed progress but the former struggled to maintain pace and completed the stage in 44th position. Meanwhile, Hero's CS Santosh recovered well after the fuel cap blunder yesterday but was slowed down by a crash.

The third stage of the 2018 Dakar Rally was held from Pisco to San Juan de Marcona in Peru with riders subjected to windy and dusty conditions through the 296 km special stage and a 208 km liaison section. However, Indian contingent CS Santosh had a tough end to Stage 3, dropping down to 56th. The rider had a good start to the day but loss an hour of time due to a loose fuel cap.

The drivers applying for the 2018 season will be put through special Drivers' Selection round which will be held at the Indi Karting Track in Kharadi, Pune on January 27th and 28th this year.

The 2018 Dakar Rally really got the ball rolling in Stage 2 after a giving glimpse of what's to come on Day 1. The 267 km stage with a 12 km liason in Pisco, Peru saw 90 per cent of the stage off track. Hero rider CS Santosh dropped to 29th at the end of Stage 2, finishing the stage with a time of 3hr22m51s, while holding the 28th spot overall.

One of the world's most grueling rallies, the 2018 edition of the Dakar Rally has commenced in South America and will be testing the grit of man and machine over the next two weeks. Part of the rally are two Indian teams - Hero MotoSports and TVS-Sherco that back two Indian riders CS Santosh and Aravind KP respectively. The opening stage of the Dakar Rally ended earlier today with Santosh leading the Indian contingent with a finish in the 13th place,
