Ford EcoSport Facelift With Feature Upgrades Revealed
Highlights
Ford has taken the wraps off the EcoSport facelift which comes sans the rear-mounted spare wheel. The car was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The car gets bespoke 17-inch wheels, black roof and mirror caps, privacy glass and a rear diffuser. There are no changes to the looks of the EcoSport and frankly it didn't need any.
There are a plethora of updates which the EcoSport comes with and Ford promises to provide lower noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) thanks to thicker sound-deadening materials in the dashboard and door. The seals around the pedals too are now tighter than before.
The cabin receives a colour four-inch display, relocated handbrake, partial leather seats which comes as standard equipment on the Titanium variant while a Winter Pack including heated windscreen, mirrors and seats has been added and it also includes rear seat ducting.
The company has also made changes to the drive-train which includes a reduced gearbox torque truncation in lower gears, so that torque delivery improves. The changes are made for both, the EcoBoost and TDCi diesel. The powertrains have also been upgraded to EU6.1 norm.
The removal of the rear-mounted spare wheel, gives the EcoSport a cleaner look, however, Ford hasn't done away with it completely. The rear-mounted spare wheel is still available as an optional feature while the standard car gets a tyre mobility kit instead.
Ford's engineers have also retuned the rear twist beam as well as the spring & damper rates while the ride height has been reduced by 10mm. The 2015 EcoSport also comes with optimized Electronic Stability Control and power steering systems as well as sat-nav and a rearview camera.
