Electrified vehicles are the future and there is no denying that. Almost every global automaker is working on building their electric fleet, and in India too we have carmakers like Mahindra and Tata Motors who already have strong models in this segment. So, on this World Environment Day, we list out some of the highly anticipated electric cars that are slated to be launched in India by the end of 2021.

General Motors Co is developing an electric van aimed at business users, joining a growing list of carmakers planning EVs for the same segment which includes customers such as Amazon.com Inc and United Parcel Service Inc, five people familiar with the plans told Reuters.

The company has already committed to a goal of featuring some form of electric propulsion in its models from 2019 onwards and now India too is part of this plan. Every new Volvo from 2019 onwards will be electrified.

Polestar, the premium electric vehicle maker owned by China's Geely, plans a big expansion of its showroom network in the mainland, sources said, as it prepares for delivery of cars to compete with Tesla Inc's locally made Model 3.

With the company already having sold more than 400 units of the electric car in India, the entry into the new markets, expect the demand for the car to soar.

The Tesla Model X is the flagship SUV from Elon Musk's electric car company, and it recently became the transport van for the SpaceX astronauts that recently made their way up to the International Space Station (ISS) on the SpaceX Falcon 9 booster rocket. It was for the first time that NASA was sending its astronauts - Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley - into space with the help of a private aerospace company, nearly a decade since the last time the US Space agency did so on American soil. The moment then was iconic and quite the perfect launchpad (pun intended) to advertise the Tesla Model X.

Strom Motors will be seen at the Consumer Electronics Show 2020 as part of Motwani Jadeja Foundation's pavilion, which will have 5 other start-ups from India. Strom Motors will showcase its 3-wheeled electric car at the tech show.
