- TVS also introduced the BS IV compliant 2017 Wego in India last month
Having launched BS IV compliant TVS Wego in the country last month, TVS Motor Company is now all set to introduced the MY2017 Jupiter in India. The model was recently spotted at a dealership and comes with the Auto Headlamp On (AO) feature and a BS IV compliant engine. Incidentally, Honda introduced the MY2017 Activa 4G scooter just yesterday, the Jupiter's arch rival in the segment.
Spotted at a dealership in Hyderabad, the 2017 TVS Jupiter was seen in the Royal Wine shade that was introduced on the Millionth Special Edition last year. The BS IV compliant scooter will be powered by the same 109.7 cc single-cylinder engine tuned to produce 8 bhp of power at 7500 rpm and 8 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm. The motor comes paired to an automatic transmission. The BS-IV compliance is denoted by the sticker seen on the front panel.
For the 2017 edition, expect to see new body graphics and colour options also made available on the Jupiter, while the Millionth edition is likely to continue offering the front disc brake as optional. Expect to see a marginal price hike when the model goes on sale later this month.
The government regulations mandate that all two wheelers will have to meet BS-IV emission norms starting from 1st April 2017. With exactly a month left for the same, expect more launches of existing products from manufacturers. Currently,
Bajaj Auto has the lead with all its products, including KTMs, being BS IV compliant. Honda has been gaining pace fast, while Suzuki recently introduced the BS IV Gixxer and Access models. More silent launches are expected in the following weeks.
