A Bicycle That's Almost Impossible to Ride
Highlights
Before you go, "It can't be that difficult", you are in for a surprise - much like Destin Sandlin, creator of a YouTube channel. Challenged by a friend to ride the aforementioned bike, Sandlin's repeated attempts to conquer failed. And it wasn't just him - most people couldn't. What is even more surprising is the fact that there's a scientific explanation why it is almost impossible to ride this bike.
People who can ride bikes have the knowledge, but lack the understanding. Destin explains, "The algorithm associated with riding a bike in a person's brain is extremely complicated. Downwards force on the pedal, leaning your whole body, pulling and pushing the handle-bar, gyroscopic procession in the wheels; every single force is a prt of this algorithm. And if you change any one part, it affects the entire control system."
He adds that though people are convinced that some trick will work, it doesn't. Once you have a rigid way of thinking in your head, sometimes you can not change that - even if you want to. Phew!
