Nothing Smartphone OS Gets Tesla Integration
Highlights
The most hyped smartphone of 2022 isn’t an iPhone. It is the new Nothing Phone (1) which is a new smartphone by Carl Pei the founder of OnePlus. And this mid-range phone has been making waves for its unique transparent look, its lights and its glyph operating system which is based on Android. One of the more interesting things that have happened with the phone is a new software update which adds integration for Tesla’s electric cars.
The update is just 120 MB which means it's more of a patch but it does add integration for Tesla’s electric cars. This is an experimental feature that allows the user to connect to a Tesla EV and control the vehicle from the quick settings toggle that is inside the notification shade.
Of course, the phone will need to log in to the Tesla account to access features like tuning on the lights of the car or turning on the air conditioning.
There is an NFT widget as well something that founder Carl Pei had announced during the launch keynote. This way, the phone displays digital art right on the home screen of the device. There is an NFT Gallery in the widget panel. Other updates include the tuning of the camera which enhances the performance of the camera system that uses the Samsung sensor.
The Nothing Phone (1) was recently launched globally including in India, however, this Tesla integration feature will not be relevant for Indian customers of the phone as Tesla is yet to launch its electric cars and is unlikely to do so in the near term.
