With the addition of the long range Nexon EV Max in its line-up, Tata has done well to bolster its reputation as a company that holds electric mobility in good stead. The additional features and the extended range has created a hype among buyers, even if it comes at a slight premium.
Tata Nexon EV Max
The brand-new electric vehicle from Tata Motors is called the Tata Nexon EV Max. At the 2018 Auto Expo, the car was shown off to the public for the first time, and it certainly made an impression. The Tata Nexon EV Max is distinguished from other available electric vehicles on the market by a plethora of amenities that are standard on the vehicle. These elements include a fashionable and forward-thinking design, high-quality materials and construction, comfortable seating for both passengers and drivers, and a high level of safety.
Tata has done well to bolster its reputation as a company that holds electric mobility as a future imperative, with the addition of the extended range Nexon EV Max to its line-up. Even if there will be a marginal increase in price, customers will be satisfied with the product if it has extra features and a longer range. Tata Motors has introduced the Nexon EV Max, which is the company's version of an electric vehicle with an increased driving range. The battery pack in this model has been updated to 40.5 kWh, and it is said to have a range of more than 437 kilometers. The model has also undergone a number of revisions in terms of its features, such as modifications to the interior and the center console, in addition to an increase in the amount of safety features and other technologies.
How is the Design?
The design of the Tata Nexon EV Max is one that manages to be both forward-looking and aesthetically pleasing. The car is designed to have a low profile and to be aerodynamic
However, we can see that a 'Max' label has been added to the electric vehicle, which differentiates it from the standard model. The new long-range Tata Nexon EV Max will look almost the same as the original model. It is going to take a sharp observer to tell the difference between this extended-range model and the regular one. The EV Max's new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and its new paint colour, Intensi-Teal, are prominent visual differentiators. Intensi-Teal is one of three exclusive colour options; the other two are Daytona Grey and Pristine White. All of the exclusive colour options come with a two-tone roof as a standard feature. Aside from these, there is not a single 'Max' badging or livery on it, and similar to the ordinary version, it continues to have blue highlights all around.
How does it perform?
The Tata Nexon EV Max is an electric vehicle that has been on the market for some time and is rumoured to be the quickest electric vehicle in recent times. The vehicle has a respectable range of 453 kilometers. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with an automated transmission that has eight different gears, making it quite simple to operate. The Nexon EV Max is fitted with a lithium-ion battery pack that has a capacity of 40.5 kWh. This provides the vehicle with a 33 percent larger battery capacity, which results in an ARAI-certified range of 453 kilometers (under standard testing conditions). To put this in perspective, the regular Nexon EV has a range of 312 kilometers on a single charge. The Nexon EV Max generates a maximum output of 141 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. The company asserts that its vehicles can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in under 9 seconds.
In addition, Tata has decreased the amount of time required to charge the Nexon EV Max, which will be offered with the choice of a 3.3 kW charger or a 7.2 kW AC fast charger. Either your home or your place of business is suitable for installing the 7.2 kW AC fast charger. Because of this, the time it takes to charge is now only 6.5 hours. The Nexon EV Max also enables a faster charging time, which can go from 0 to 80 percent in just 56 minutes using any DC fast charger that is 50 kW or above. One potential drawback of the vehicle is that it is rather pricey. However, if you are interested in purchasing an electric vehicle that is both opulent and practical, the Tata Nexon EV Max is one option that you should look into.
1. What is the Torque Figure?
The Tata Nexon EV Max comes with 250 Nm of peak torque.
2. What is the Power?
The maximum power of the Tata Nexon EV Max is 141.04 bhp.
3. What is the Top Speed?
The top speed of the Max EV has been electronically limited at 140 kmph.
What's the Range?
According to ARAI, the maximum range of the Tata Nexon EV Max is 453 kilometers. Because the battery in the vehicle can be recharged in just ninety minutes, you won't have to wait very long at all to be back out on the road.
How's the Driving experience?
The Nexon EV Max's 40.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack is 33% larger than the standard Nexon EV. The Nexon EV Max's sportiest setting produces 143 hp and 250 Nm, which is 14 hp and 5 Nm more than the standard version. Despite being more powerful, it's 100kg heavier, so the Sport mode feels similar to the Standard one. It's the most fun, but it drains the battery faster. This mode feels too aggressive for daily commutes, so save it for spirited drives. Its 0-100kph time is the same as the standard car (9.4sec), but its top speed is 137 kmph, 17 kmph faster than the standard EV's 120 kmph. The Nexon EV Max adds Eco mode to its City and Sport modes. Tata's City and Eco modes have 97 hp and 170 Nm of torque. The Eco's throttle response is slower than the City's. Due to the EV's instant torque delivery, the two modes are sufficient for urban driving and highway passing. The Eco and City modes' 0-100 kmph acceleration times of 14.3 sec and 14.1 sec respectively, are faster than the 30.2 kWh version's 16.1 sec timeline.
There are four levels of regenerative braking, including level zero, which allows drivers to let the car coast without sudden deceleration or momentum loss. Level 1 will feel most natural to buyers switching from ICE vehicles because deceleration is gradual. Level two is stronger, and level three feels like the brakes were lightly applied. It'll slow to 6-7 kmph using regen alone, but it doesn't allow for one-pedal driving because it won't stop without the brake. Independent of drive modes, these regeneration levels work neatly overall. Springs and dampers were redesigned to handle the extra 100 kg. Its stiffer ride flattens imperfections and potholes well. Side-to-side or rocking on broken roads is more noticeable. Although the steering is heavier, turn-in is sharp. With tight body control and a low center of gravity, the car is a fun handler. New ESP regulates wheel spin and helps the driver maintain a cleaner line around long, fast corners. Hill-hold and auto-hold work well. In Drive, they prevent the car from rolling forward or backwards when stopped. The Max has all-wheel disc brakes and an iVBAC, or intelligent Vacuum-less Boost and Active Control device, which electronically controls brake pressure. This translates to a consistent brake pedal feel and zero pedal vibrations under hard braking, even with ABS. Despite all-wheel disc brakes, the Nexon EV Max stops in 29.3 metres from 80 to 0 kph due to its added weight.
What's the interior like?
The Max version's light interior with blue accents is mostly unchanged from the base model, with the operative word being "largely." A closer look reveals a distinctive triangular design on the black dashboard appliqué, which subtly transitions into a deep blue at the edges. The knurled texture of the drive selector rotary knob is both luxurious and enjoyable to turn. While the selector's touch and feel have improved, it is still painfully slow to use, which can be a major pain when trying to do a rapid three-point turn or squeeze into a parking spot. Thankfully, it has a good and clear display that shows you whether you're in Park, Reverse, Neutral, or Drive, and that also changes colour to reflect the driving style you've chosen (red for Sport, blue for City, and green for Eco; the latter is a new feature). The hand brake has been replaced by an electronic parking brake switch, and there is also an automatic hold feature and controls for adjusting the levels of regeneration. A wireless charging pad has been installed in place of the cup holders, and an air purifier has been built into the entertainment system. The base vehicle has beige leatherette front seats with blue stitching and a triangular arrow motif. While pleasant on their own, the new seat ventilation feature significantly improves the level of ease they provide, especially in hot and humid climates like ours. Although convenient, the loudest setting for the seat blowers can be a bit much to bear. Unlike in a regular Nexon EV, rear passengers in this model have their knees supported by the seatbacks thanks to a 10mm elevation of the cabin floor. The lack of thigh support in this seating arrangement is particularly uncomfortable for those of us who are on the taller side. One of the best features is the generous amount of space provided for three people, including sufficient headroom and legroom.
Tech and infotainment

This stylish and cutting-edge automobile was conceived with the intention of providing its occupants with an experience that is both pleasurable and relaxing.

Battery Capacity and Electric Motors
The battery in the Tata Nexon EV Max has a capacity of 40.5 kWh. This has a significantly bigger capacity than the batteries used in many other EVs currently available in the market. The maximum range is 453 kilometres as certified by ARAI.
Safety Equipment
The Tata Nexon EV Max is equipped with a variety of security features (it has a 5 star Global NCAP rating) including Airbags, Seat Belt Warning, Child Lock, Anchor Points for Child Seat, Over speed Warning, Speed Sensing Door Lock, Anti Theft Engine Immobilizer, Central Locking, and more. It also has an electronic parking brake, ISOFIX anchorage, ABS with EBD and BA, Auto Vehicle Hold, Panic Brake Alert, all four disc brakes, and ESP with i-VBAC. There is also hill descent control along with hill hold assist.
What's the warranty on the battery?
The Tata Nexon EV Max comes with a warranty of up to eight years on the battery or 1,60,000 kilometres, whichever comes earlier.
Which cars compete in this segment?
The MG ZS EV is a possible rival for the Tata Nexon EV Max in the Indian market. The Hyundai Kona Electric is also a rival for the vehicle. However, the Nexon EV Max does make for a value proposition, taking its attractive price tag into account, as compared to the other vehicles.
