Volkswagen Taigun Tales: Decoding Driving Dynamics And Ride Quality
Highlights
Volkswagen set out into the compact SUV space, with one mission in mind – the blow their competitors out of the water. And the only way they could possibly make it happen is by sticking to its DNA- by delivering a car that is perfect when it comes to driving dynamics. Now, we have to take into account, that Volkswagen had never manufactured a car in India which sat as high as the Taigun and so, it certainly was a challenge to get it right. With a ground clearance of 188 mm, the Taigun sat taller than cars like the Vento and Polo and the company had to ensure that the thrill of driving isn’t lost out on. The suspension was tuned to deliver the best ride quality, so that whatever potholes or bad roads you encounter, the Taigun will be able to handle it all without disturbing the occupants.
But of course, for those looking for something more, the Taigun manages to cut corners just like a Volkswagen. The steering is precise and every single time you want to push it into a corner, it feels very planted and there’s no sense of drama, in fact it’s so calm, that you want to do it all over again! The Taigun is a compact SUV but it doesn’t feel that way when you are behind the wheel of it. With a total length of 4221mm, the Taigun is a long car, but when you are behind the wheel, it feels more like a hot hatch and yes, gives you the Polo-kind of feel.
The ride too is extremely plaint so the occupants are cushioned from all the bad roads that come their way and that’s thanks to the tuning of the suspension, which absorbs all the blows from the road, thus minimizing the impact inside the car. Volkswagen India, entered this hotly contested segment, with a car that would reflect what the brand has stood for, for decades and with the Taigun, it has hit the nail on the head!
