Triumph Scrambler 1200 Teased; Global Unveil In October 2018

Highlights
- The Triumph Scrambler 1200 has been spied testing earlier too
- It will be the latest addition to Triumph's modern classic portfolio
- It could come to India in the first half of 2019
It had to happen! After Ducati introduced the Scrambler 1100 last year, it was a matter of time before Triumph brought out a bigger scrambler too. In fact, Triumph has been testing the Scrambler 1200 for quite some time now. And now, Triumph Motorcycles has released a teaser of the Scrambler 1200, which will be globally unveiled on 24 October, 2018 ahead of the EICMA in Milan. In all possibility, Triumph will have two variants of the Scrambler 1200 which could be named 'Retro' and 'R.' The new Scrambler 1200 'R' will have Showa upside down forks and Ohlins twin-shocks fitted to a new swingarm which will be longer as well. Also new is a large 21-inch front wheel (the current Street Scrambler has a 19-inch front wheel).

The lower spec 'Retro' model might have Nissin brakes and KYB suspension in a bid to keep costs down. Triumph already has the Street Scrambler in its line-up, which shares the 900 cc parallel-twin engine with the Street Twin and the Bonneville T100. The Street Scrambler has ride-by-wire throttle, ABS and traction control, but the bigger 1200 cc Scrambler could possibly get additional riding modes as well, including in all probability an "off-road" mode as well.

Some of the features on the Triumph Scrambler 1200 include an LED headlamp, engine and hand guards, a 21-inch wheel up front and a 19-inch wheel at the rear. The engine of course will be a 1,200 cc parallel-twin motor and we believe it will be in a different tune as compared to the other 1,200 cc engines in Triumph line-up such as the Bonneville Bobber, Bonneville Speedmaster and the Bonneville T120. There are also rumours floating of Ducati coming up with a Desert Sled 1100 which could make its debut at the 2018 EICMA in November 2018 and if that happens, it will be one of the biggest rivals to the Triumph Scrambler 1200.
We would like to believe that Triumph will launch the Scrambler 1200 in India sometime in the first half of 2019 with the global launch in early 2019.
