Tesla Launches Full Self Driving Service
Highlights
- Tesla launched the self driving package for $199 per month
- This package was available for $10,000
- It also announced Tesla vision which doesn't use radars
After teasing it for a while, Tesla has finally launched a full self-driving subscription package for $199 per month. Interestingly, it will cost $99 for people who bought the discontinued enhanced autopilot package. Currently, Tesla only sells full self-driving at an add-on one-time payment of $10,000.
This package includes -- navigate on AutoPilot, Auto Lane Change, Autopark, Summon, full self-driving computer and traffic light and stop sign control. But the point to this package is true self-driving which is level 5 and Tesla hopes to achieve this goal with Tesla Vision.
Tesla was also testing a pay as you go subscription which would enable users to test out the feature while not putting up a major financial commitment. This also comes after Tesla deployed the FSD Beta V9 to its early access program users which is basically a precursor to Tesla vision a full self-driving system that has algorithms trained on a supercomputer using data harvested from Tesla's driving across the world.
This update comes via a software update to the app. While the release notes were talking about the virtual power plant, they also reported some changes regards to self-driving. Tesla also recently announced that it will stop using the radars on its cars and future Tesla's will come without the radars and the system will be fully based on cameras and sensors.
