A senior Japanese lawmaker said that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co is considering building a second plant in Japan.

Yamaha recently released a video showcasing its self-balancing tech called, Advanced Motorcycle Stability Assist System (AMSAS), which is fitted to an electric Yamaha R3. The two-wheeler marque says that the technology assists in stabilising the vehicle’s posture at speeds of 5 kmph or less.

The launch is part of a non-exclusive 10-year agreement between both the companies for driverless vehicles, with a rollout in Los Angeles expected to follow.

The lawmakers were critical of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which in 2020 shifted much of a key spectrum block set aside for auto safety to accommodate the burgeoning number of wireless devices.

A person familiar with the situation told Reuters that the Economy Ministry would contact Foxconn on Monday to confirm the equity sale.
