The Tata Nexon EV has been a runaway success in India as far as electric vehicle (EV) sales are concerned. It's the bestselling EV in our market with over 15,000 units being sold since its launch and now Tata Motors has introduced a new Tata Nexon EV Max which offers a better drive range and is positioned above the standard Tata Nexon EV. In terms of looks and interiors, both models are near identical save for the 'Max' badge and the updated central console sporting a new rotary knob with display on the Tata Nexon Max EV. That said, major changes you get to see on the Tata Nexon Max EV is under the skin. Here's how the new Tata Nexon Max EV is different from the standard Tata Nexon EV.

Battery Pack
The Tata Nexon EV is equipped with a bigger 40.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which is around 33 per cent bigger than the standard Nexon EVs 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
Power Output
The Tata Nexon EV Max puts out a healthy 141 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque while the standard Tata Nexon EV belts out 127 bhp and 245 Nm of peak torque.
Performance
The Tata Nexon EV Max is around 100 kg heavier than the standard Nexon EV and 70 kg of that additional weight comes from the bigger battery pack. Still, it clocks triple-digit speeds in under 9 seconds while the standard Nexon EV does the same sprint in 9.9 seconds.
Range
The Tata Nexon EV Max delivers an ARAI certified drive range of 437 km under standard testing conditions while the Nexon EV can go up to 312 km on a single charge.
Charging Time
Tata has also improved the charging time on the Nexon EV Max that will be available with options of a 3.3 kW charger or a 7.2 kW AC fast charger. The 7.2 kW AC fast charger can be installed either at home or at work and it takes just 6.5 hours to charge the car completely. A 50 kW DC fast charger can charge the Tata Nexon EV up to 80 per cent in just 56 mins.
In comparison, a 3.3 kW onboard charger can fully charge the Nexon EV in 8 hours. Meanwhile, a 25 kW DC fast charger will charge the vehicle from 0-80 per cent in 60 minutes.
Features
The Tata Nexon EV Max also gets few more features. It gets the new jewel knob with Active Mode display, new Makarana beige interiors, front ventilated leatherette seats, air purifier, wireless charging, auto-dimming IRVM and cruise control.
Prices
Prices of the Tata Nexon EV Max begin at Rs. 17.74 lakh, going up to Rs. 19.24 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Nexon EV is priced from Rs. 14.54 lakh topping out at Rs. 17.15 lakh, so yes, the Tata Nexon EV Max is more expensive than the regular Nexon EV and that was very much expected.
