Tata Motors' Global Wholesales Grows By 40 Per Cent, In April 2018

Tata Motors Group has announced achieving a growth of over 40 per cent in global wholesales, with total wholesales of 102,297 vehicles, for the month of April 2018, against the 61,378 units sold in April 2017. The company mentions that this number is the collective wholesale of Tata Motors passenger vehicles, Jaguar Land Rover, and Tata Motors' commercial vehicles department. Individually too, each of these departments in Tata Motors Group's stable, have witnessed double-digit growth for the month of April 2018.

Tata Motors' global passenger vehicle wholesales for April 2018 alone accounted for a total 62,619 units, against the 53,852 units sold during the same month last year, registering a growth of over 14 per cent. Interestingly, over 70 per cent of the total global passenger vehicle wholesales came from Jaguar Land Rover, which is, 45,284 vehicles and this also include 8,095 units sold by CJLR - the JV between JLR and Chery Automobiles. Separately, Jaguar's wholesales for the month of April 2018 were 14,874 vehicles, while Land Rover wholesales for the month were 30,410 vehicles. This could be the result of the new Jaguar I-Pace, which was launched in March and the 2018 MY Range Rover family.

In India too, Tata Motors saw double-digit growth of 34 per cent in passenger vehicle sales with 17,235 units as against 12,827 units sold during the same month last year. As for exports from India, they accounted for 3,010 units for April 2018, registering a growth of 41 per cent, against April 2017.

All that said, it was the company's commercial vehicle segment that saw the highest amount of growth in the month of April 2018. The global wholesales of all Tata Motors' commercial vehicles and Tata Daewoo range accounted for 39,678 vehicles, registering a growth of 119 per cent, against the wholesales in April 2017. In India too, the company's CV sales for April 2018 accounted for 36,276 units, with an increase of 126 per cent, compared to 16,017 units sold during the same month last year.
