Tata Motors Bags 5000 Orders For Buses From State Transport Undertakings

Indian auto major, Tata Motors has announced to have received an order of over 5000 buses from 25 State/City Transport Undertakings (STU) across the country.

    Indian auto major, Tata Motors has announced to have received an order of over 5000 buses from 25 State/City Transport Undertakings (STU) across the country. One of the largest commercial vehicle manufacturers in the country, the massive order has helped the company achieve a growth of over 80 per cent compared to the previous year, while such a large order by STUs has been witnessed after nearly a gap of four years, which showcases the state governments' focus towards public transport.

We are encouraged by the adoption of latest technologies by these STU's, for fleet modernization, lower total operating costs and expanding user base and ridership. We welcome the collaborative approach employed by these STU's in bettering end user needs, which will further help boost our efforts towards innovations in the public transport space."

    The 5000 buses that Tata Motors will provide STUs will come loaded with better commuter safety and connectivity features. The fully IT equipped bus will come loaded with GPS enabled on-board ITS (Intelligent Transport System), Public information systems via electronic destination boards, CCTV cameras, on board WiFi, Smart multi-mode ticketing, on board Diagnostics systems and much.

    The buses will also come equipped with an HVAC unit, air-suspension for improved comfort; lower NVH levels, automatic transmission, as well as wider doors, passage ways and window panes for better movement as well as ingress and egress.

    The execution of the order will take place in the 2016-17 financial year, and the company the order will help strengthen itself in the commercial vehicle space. Tata Motors will be completely building 1500 of the ordered buses at its JV facility at the Tata Marcopolo (Dharwad and Lucknow) and ACGL Goa.

    Furthermore, Tata Motors has also developed Electric Hybrid buses and Articulated buses to meet the future transport needs for the ever-growing smart cities for the future.
