Tata Motors Introduces Updated Range Of Light, Intermediate & Heavy Trucks

Tata Motors has launched its updated range of trucks in India adding in more tech, updated engine options, and even ADAS features on select models. The new range included models across categories including light (LCV), medium (MCV) and heavy (HCV) commercial vehicles.
Light Commercial Vehicles
Starting with the LCVs, Tata revealed a new range of tipper trucks – the 610 LPK, 710 SK and the K.14 Ultra. The models while featuring the same basic design as their predecessors, receive cosmetic updates such as lower set bumpers and tweaks to the front end design such as a lower set bumper or a new under bumper bar for increased protection, updated cabin with more comfort features and getting Tata’s new Fleet Edge telematics system.
The company also introduced the 709g CNG-fuelled LCV with a 3,600kg payload carrying capacity
Intermediate Commercial Vehicles
The biggest introduction in the MCV space was the introduction of a new range of CNG models. Tata introduced two new CNG models – the 1512g and the T. 12g. The 1512g is available in three sizes with a choice of CNG tank configurations ranging from a dual set-up of 485-litre and 520-litre or a single larger 660 litre capacity tank (available with the longest body style). As with the other models in the range the 1512g received updated looks to comply with newer regulations and an updated cabin with greater amenities for the driver. The T 12g Ultra too is available in two sizes – 20 and 24 feet- though both get an identical 576 litre CNG tank set-up.
The company also introduced an updated diesel T16 Ultra and a new K. 14 Tipper in the segment.
Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles
Tata said that it has become the first company to launch a CNG MCV in India with the new Signa 1918 and 2818 CNG – 19 tonne and 28 tonne gross weight respectively. Aside from the CNG model, Tata also updated the platform with a number of new features including a 7.0-inch touchscreen, improved river ergonomics and additional safety systems including a new engine braking function, hill start assist, ESC, tyre pressure monitoring and a driver monitoring system.
Tata also revealed the new Prima tractor and Tipper featuring a heavily updated design and more important advanced driver aid systems. The cabin too was heavily revised for improved comfort and connectivity including a touchscreen with navigation. The Prima additionally now gets a number fo safety features including ADAS function such as a camera based lane departure warning system, collision mitigation system, ESC and a driver monitor system.
