Highlights

Suzuki has issued a recall in America over an electrical problem in its motorcycles. This recall will affect 68,344 motorcycles overall, made between 2008 and 2012 and will start from March 4, 2016. These affected models have a defect in their circuit board of their rectifier, which doesn't let the battery get charged properly. This eventually leads to the battery losing its power too soon and too suddenly. This can eventually lead to the bike stalling suddenly and without any warning.

As a part of this recall, 15 models of Suzuki motorcycles, ones manufactured between 2008 and 2012, will be recalled. Suzuki will be contacting the respective owners of these motorcycles and change the faulty rectifier free of cost.

    Affected models under this recall are: 2008-2012 Suzuki AN400, 2008-2012 Suzuki DL1000, 2008-2009 Suzuki GSF1250S, 2008-2010 Suzuki GSX-R600, 2008-2010 Suzuki GSX-R750, 2008 Suzuki GSX1300BK, 2008-2012 Suzuki GSX1300R, 2008-2010 Suzuki GSX650F, 2009-2010 Suzuki SFV650, 2008-2010 Suzuki VLR1800, 2009-2010 Suzuki VZ1500.

This is for the second time in January that Suzuki has recalled its motorcycles. A few days ago, Suzuki had also recalled its motorcycles over different issues. The first problem was the corrosion of the ignition switch terminal upon terminal's exposure to certain liquids salt water. This could have resulted in direct connection of the ignition lead wire and wire harness terminals making the ignition switch useless. "Under this condition, the engine cannot be stopped by turning off the ignition key," Suzuki had said in its communication. This problem was specific to certain units of the V-Strom made in 2014 and 2015.

Another recall was due to a potential 'battery ground connection'. This would eventually result in poor connectivity and losing battery charge. The last and the third reason for the recall was a wiring harness that may rub against the bottom of the fuel tank. Vibration from riding may cause the wiring insulation to wear off, allowing bare wire to short circuit against the fuel tank.
