Honda Cars India released its sales report for the month of August 2018, and the company has sold 17,020 units in the country. The automaker reported a marginal drop in volumes of nearly 2 per cent, as against 17,365 units sold during the same month last year. The decline in volumes comes after the Japanese auto giant reported impressive sales for the month July this year. Honda attributed the decline in sales to the Kerala floods, along with the price hike on its products during the previous month.

Tata Motors registered a 27 per cent growth in August 2018 with 58,262 units sold, the company announced in a statement. The automaker saw a significant jump in its overall volumes last month, a against the 45,906 units that were sold during the same period last year. Tata's domestic sales for passenger vehicles stood at 18,420 units in August this year, growing by 28 per cent when compared it 14,340 units sold in August 2017. The growth comes despite other automakers reporting a drop in volumes due to the heavy monsoons that impacted the state of Kerala. Tata said that UV sales grew by a healthy 93 per cent in August this year, while the passenger car segment witnesses a 9 per cent growth during the same period. I

Royal Enfield had an okay month by its standards, selling 69,377 units, registering a 2 per cent growth over sales of August 2017 of 67,977 units.

TVS Motor Company registered a sales growth of 8 per cent increasing from 317,563 units in August 2017 to 343,217 units in the month of August 2018.

The first day say of the month is always reserved for the sales report of all the carmakers in the country. The month of August saw a couple launches from the stables of Renault with the updated Kwid, Toyota bringing in the Etios Liva Limited Edition, Maruti introducing its AGS or the AMT function to the top variants of the new Swift along with a special edition of the Dzire and also the launch of the much anticipated refreshed Ciaz. While the month of August saw an upward trend for some manufactures, Maruti Suzuki saw decline in sales as it saw an adversely effect of the severe floods in Kerala and heavy rains in other parts of the country. However, it did not deter the spirit of the carmakers in the country as it saw huge contributions for the Kerala's Chief Minister Distress Relief Fund, extending support to the Indian state which has been affected by unprecedented rain. Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited registered sales of 62,446 units in August 2018, which is the company's highest monthly sale ever.

Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV) Ltd. recorded sales of 6069 units in August 2018 as compared to 4571 units in August 2017, recording a growth of 32.7 per cent. This includes 5948 units of Eicher brand and 121 units of Volvo brand. The Eicher branded trucks and buses recorded sales of 5948 units in August 2018 as compared to 4521 units in August 2017, representing a growth of 31.6 per cent. Moreover, in the domestic CV market, the Eicher branded trucks and buses have recorded sales of 4843 units in August 2018 as compared to 3818 units in August 2017, registering a growth of 26.8 per cent.

The country's second largest car manufacturer, Hyundai India registered sales growth of 3.4 per cent in the month of August 2018 as it sold 61,912 units compared to 59,905 units sold in the same period last year. However, the domestic sales stood at 45,801 units, a decrease of 2.8 per cent as compared to 47,103 units sold in the same period last fiscal. The exports, on the other hand, saw a massive increase of 25.8 per cent as it grew to 16,111 units in August 2018 from 12,802 units in August 2017.
