arley-Davidson Inc reported its steepest decline in domestic sales in eight years on Tuesday, and warned that motorcycle shipments for the year will be at the lower end of its forecast as it faces higher tariff-related costs. Milwaukee-based Harley's shares reversed course and were down 5 per cent, giving up pre-market gains after the company recorded its best quarterly profit in two years. "We expect U.S. industry to remain challenged into 2019 and will continue to proactively address the weak U.S. industry," Chief Financial Officer John Olin said on a conference call with analysts. Harley's demographic challenges in the domestic market are well documented - core customers are growing older and efforts to attract new and young riders have yet to show results.

TVS Motor Company's total revenue for the period of July to September 2018 stood at Rs. 4,994 crore, up from Rs. 4,098 crore in the same period a year ago.

According to the Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV), in FY 2017-18 the sales of electric cars came down to 1200 units from 2000 units in FY2016-17 recording a slump of 40 per cent. The sales were flat at 2000 units in FY2016-17.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has turned out to be the most-selling C-segment sedan in the country with over 24,000 units sold during the first half of 2018-2019 financial year. The Ciaz currently accounts for a 28.8 per cent market share in the segment which comprises products like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and the likes. Adding to the growth momentum was the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift that arrived in August this year and registered over 10,000 bookings in the first month since the launch, the company announced in a statement.

More than 25 per cent customers have bought the top-spec variants and almost 20 per cent of sales consist of automatic variants.

Maruti has also added a CNG variant in the Eeco line-up that delivers a high fuel economy of 21.8 kmpl and 17 per cent of total Eeco sales are attributed to the CNG variant.
