Honda recorded a growth of 8 per cent annual growth during FY2019 and also recorded a decent growth of 27 per cent for its sales in March 2019.

Indian auto giant Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) registered a growth of 11 per cent in auto sales for the financial year 2018-19. The automaker sold 608,596 units in the previous fiscal, as opposed to 549,153 units sold in FY2017-18. The company's steady growth was visible in the March 2019 sales results as well with Mahindra selling 62,952 units, as against 62,076 units in March 2018. The automaker saw a hike of one per cent in its sales for the previous month.

Maruti Suzuki has registered the highest ever total sales in FY 2018-19 at 1,862,449 units, a growth of 4.7 per cent, compared to the 1,779,574 units sold in 2017-18.

The Innova Crysta continued to be a bestseller for the company with the MPV registering positive sales and continues to be the segment leader.

The last few years have been eventful for Tata Motors owing to the company's new product range. It now seems that the efforts are paying off as the automaker has added a new milestone to its name. Tata Motors has become the first Indian automaker to sell over one million vehicles in a calendar year. The Indian auto giant sold 1.049 million vehicles globally in 2018, as opposed to 0.986 million vehicles sold in 2017. The sales figure includes light vehicles, both passenger and commercial, including cars, utility vehicles and small pick-ups up to 3.5 tonnes. The company is the 16th largest automaker in the world in terms of sales volumes.

Overall sales numbers of Ducati though continues to consolidate with over 50,000 Ducati motorcycles delivered to customers worldwide.

A low demand for vehicles since the start of the year has pushed Maruti Suzuki, India's largest automaker, to reduce vehicle production. The company cut production for its cars by 8.3 per cent in February this year churning out 148,959 units including the Super Carry LCV, as opposed to the 162,524 units produced during the same month last year. Production for popular selling cars including the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Dzire, and the Vitara Brezza stood at 147,550 units last month, a decline of 8.4 per cent over 161,116 units in February 2018.
