Amidst slowdown in domestic sales, India's two-wheeler exports have recently witnessed 4 per cent growth in the first half (H1) of the financial year 2019-20 (FY 2019-20). According to the data shared by the Society of India Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the total two-wheeler exports, including motorcycles, scooters and mopeds, reached 17,93,957 units in the H1 of the current fiscal year, as against the 17,23,280 units exported during the same period in the financial year 2018-19.

On a year on year basis, overall vehicle registrations fell by 12.9 per cent. Registrations for two-wheelers were down by 12.1 per cent. The passenger vehicle inventory rose marginally but the two wheeler inventory continues to be high.

In just five years of production the Lamborghini Huracan number 14,022 has rolled off the assembly line, marking a production milestone for the V10 model.

The Hyundai Venue has now become the country's top-selling utility vehicle based on the SUV's cumulative sales numbers for the last five months, which is now over 42,000 units. Between May and September 2019 Hyundai India sold 42,681 units of the Venue, and so far, the company has also received over 75,000 bookings for the new subcompact SUV.

Heavy discounts on popular SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Creta has helped the UV segment to record positive growth while sales in all other segments have declined.

In the first nine months of 2019, Porsche AG delivered 202,318 vehicles worldwide achieving a growth of 3 per cent percent compared to the same period last year.

The company is expecting sales to improve at least in the passenger vehicle segment during the festive season.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class which recently got a BS6 engine along with some feature updates continues to dominate sales in the company's line-up and is further joined by the GLC and GLS SUVs.
