Highlights

It was back in May this year that Royal Enfield unveiled the Classic 500 Limited edition model - Despatch - and said that it would be up for grabs soon. We know the love people share for Royal Enfield bikes in India and when the company decided to sell this limited edition bike online, the response to it was nothing short of overwhelming.

Royal Enfield said it has sold its entire inventory of 200 units of limited edition motorcycles within 26 minutes of opening of online booking. These limited edition Despatch motorcycles were priced at Rs. 2.05 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) and pay homage to the era of the Despatch Riders of the World Wars.

Only 200 motorcycles per colour have been made- each bearing a unique embossed hallmark detailing particulars of its manufacture and a signature camouflage pattern, achieved by hand. The unique look of the bike is enhanced by the painting the engine & exhaust pipe in black.

The two new colours which will be made available for sale are the 'Desert Storm Despatch' & 'Squadron Blue Despatch'. The Classic 500 Despatch range comes powered by the 499cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled petrol engine which produces 27.2bhp.

The company expects to huge hike in sales this year and considering that it has sold 92,845 units in the first quarter of 2015 itself, shows that they have no option but to increase production capacity. The company has already announced that the capacity will go up from 30,000 units a month last year to 50,000 units a month by this year-end.
