Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid To Launch In India In September 2018

Besides the E-Hybrid, the Cayenne will also be available with the V6 motor and there's the Turbo V8 too that'll make its way here. Bookings for the car are already underway and we'll know more closer to the launch.

    The new generation of the Porsche Cayenne is one of the most awaited of launches in the country and now Porsche has confirmed that the car will be launched in India in September 2018. In fact, Pavan Shetty, Director, Porsche India, told us this development in an exclusive chat and he mentioned further that the company is also going to launch the E-Hybrid version too in India. Besides the E-Hybrid, the Cayenne will also be available with the V6 motor and there's the Turbo V8 too that'll make its way here. Bookings for the car are already underway and we'll know more closer to the launch.

    Compared to its predecessor, the new Cayenne integrates major technological and mechanical developments which enhance its performance. This starts with the chassis and progresses to a separated link design for the front axle, a multilink rear axle, and - for the first time with the Cayenne will be available in tyre sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches. Rear-axle steering is available as an option which helps to improve the car's agility.

    The Cayenne adopts new design elements that hint at how this generation builds upon its predecessors. New horizontal light edges create a wider, more athletic appearance as do enlarged air intakes in the front fascia. LEDs are a main feature of the new Cayenne and are standard on all models. It also has an option to upgrade from the standard headlights to either the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PLDS) or LED Matrix Beam headlights, which also include PDLS.

    At the heart of the new Porsche Cayenne sits a 3.0-litre single-turbo V6 making 335 bhp and 450 Nm of torque, while the Cayenne S uses a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 that makes 433 bhp and 550 Nm of torque. A newly-developed eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission is standard across the Cayenne line.

    With the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid, Porsche has moderately improved the performance of its 3.0-litre engine by 7 bhp, taking it to 340 bhp while the electric engine is now over 43 per cent higher at 136 bhp. Together, the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid can churns out 46 bhp higher than its predecessor. It has a combined torque of 400NM. The Cayenne E-Hybrid hits 100kmph in 5 seconds from a standing position and can reach its maximum speed of 253kmph with the combined forces of the combustion and electric engine. The engine comes mated to a new 8-Speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.
