Porsche 911 GT3 RS Launched In India; Prices Start At Rs. 2.74 Crore

Porsche is all set to showcase the new 911 GT3 RS at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. But before it's being showcased to the world, Porsche has already made it available to order in India and prices start from Rs. 2.74 crore (ex-showroom pan India). This high-performance sports car is based on the 911 GT3, which was launched in India in October last year, has been further refined to combine the performance-orientated engine with a running-gear setup featuring re-calibrated rear-axle steering which basically translates into 'absolute fun' for the race track.

While we expected that the 911 GT3 RS might see a higher capacity engine make its way into the car, Porsche has stuck to the naturally aspirated 4-litre engine. The 4-litre motor in the GT3 RS makes 513 bhp and it's quick on its feet too. The 911 GT3 RS accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 312 kmph. The flat-six engine delivers 20 horsepower more than its predecessor and the 911 GT3. With a rev-range peaking at 9,000 rpm, it's got enough firepower probably to the turn the earth around its axis. Mated to a specially calibrated seven-speed PDK gearbox the high-performance engine guarantees outright performance and great drivability around the track.

Aerodynamics have determined the design of the wide, weight-optimised body with its classic rigid rear-wing. The interior comes with full carbon-fibre bucket seats while the exterior sees lightweight door panels featuring storage nets and opening pull-loops. Reduced sound absorption materials and a new lightweight rear lid further contribute to overall weight reduction.

The 911 GT3 RS gets newly developed 20-inch lightweight rims and new 265/35 sports tyres on the front axle while 21 inch wheels with 325/30 tyres at the rear axle to improve traction. As with all current GT sports cars, the Clubsport package is available for the 911 GT3 RS at no extra cost. The package includes a roll-over bar, manual fire extinguisher, preparation for a battery-disconnect switch and six-point safety-harness for a sporty driving experience.

For enthusiastic drivers, Porsche motorsport department has created an optional Weissach package for a further weight reduction. The package features additional carbon-fibre components for the chassis, interior and exterior, as well as optional magnesium wheels. In its lightest configuration, this package reduces the weight of the 911 GT3 RS down to 1430 kg.
