Italian luxury watch manufacturer, Panerai, has entered into German high-performance automotive engineering company, Brabus, to jointly work on a series of exclusive watch products. To mark the new collaborating, the luxury watchmaker has launched a new Submersible series watch inspired by the design of the Brabus "Shadow Black Ops" series of boats. The new watch series is called Submersible S Brabus Black Ops Edition (PAM01240), which is priced at $46,200 or nearly Rs. 35 lakh, is the first-ever watch from the Italian marque to get skeletonised automatic movement. The new special edition watch will be limited to only 100 units.

Brabus' Black Ops line of luxury dayboats are limited-edition model, with only 37 examples

While Brabus is is widely known for being an automotive aftermarket tuning company that specialises in Mercedes-Benz, Smart and Maybach vehicles, it also have a marine division that makes high-speed boats. Brabus' Black Ops line of luxury dayboats, which includes both the Shadow 900 Spyder and the Shadow 900 Sun-Top. The Shadow 900 range comes with Mercury Marine's latest dual 450R Verado XL 4.6 litre V8 Four Stroke engines with Joystick Piloting for easy docking and manoeuvring. The luxurious all-black dayboat from Brabus is also a limited-edition model, with only 37 examples. Panerai says that its origin is linked to the development of diving watches, making it the right partner for Brabus.

The two brands plan to work together to create innovative products that match the marine segment of both Brabus and Panerai. The watchmaker says that they will be working on new ideas, new technologies and new materials to develop these products. As for the new PAM01240, the watch features a one piece off-centred oscillating weight that allows for bi-directional winding, whereby the two spring barrels efficiently wind up while the watch is worn. Because the oscillating rotor is made of tungsten, the watch is much thinner and lighter. It also comes with features like a patented polarized date display and a unidirectional rotating bezel for the calculation of the immersion time. It also has a three-day power reserve and a sapphire crystal disk indicator filled in Super-LumiNova.

Visually, it features the signature gunmetal grey, black and red colour palette of Brabus, furthermore, the watchcase is made out of high-end composite materials a modern, dark grey Carbotech. Minute, hour and small seconds hands are accented in BRABUS-red; and BRABUS brand emblems are engraved on Panerai's signature crown guard lever, the watchstrap, the movement and the case back. The watch is also water-resistant to 300 meters (30 bar) and features two straps, a bi-material version and a second, Panerai Sportech strap with velcro closure.
