New Tata Punch Bags Highest Ever Bookings Compared To Any Other Tata Product

Tata Motors has officially launched its new micro SUV - the Tata Punch in India. The new entry-level SUV from the home-grown automaker has been launched at an introductory price of Rs. 5.49 lakh to Rs. 9.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Having said that, Tata began accepting pre-bookings for the Punch on October 4, 2021, for a token of Rs. 21,000. Speaking with the media during the post-launch interaction, Shailesh Chandra, President Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said that the "Punch has (received) more bookings than any other Tata car".

Now, Tata Motors has not disclosed the booking numbers for the Punch. However, while the official booking did commence on October 4, several select Tata Motors dealers across Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai were already accepting pre-bookings for the Punch SUV for a token amount ranging between Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 11,000. So, the current numbers are likely to include those unofficial bookings as well.

The Tata Punch is offered with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and get a 5-speed manual or an AMT
Tata Motors began the production of the Punch micro SUV in September 2021, and the company says that it is currently trying to ramp up the capacity based on the bookings it has received. Shailesh Chandra said that while the company has enough vehicles in stock to address the initial booking numbers, customers might have to face some amount of waiting period after a few weeks. He said, "We have sufficient cars to start with. Given the bookings we have received we are ok to deliver those, but there will be some waiting period 1 month after the launch as more bookings pour in"

The new Tata Punch is offered in four variants or Personas - Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative. All four trims come with an optional custom pack that includes and a bunch of add-on features. The Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that comes mated to a 5-speed manual and an optional AMT unit. Except for the Pure persona, all other trims are available in the AMT option, and they come with a premium of Rs. 60,000 over the asking price of the manual trims.
