Mercedes-Benz's next product for India will be the much-anticipated GLA-Class crossover, which will take on the likes of Audi Q3 and BMW X1. The mini-crossover will be launched on September 30,2014, though the pre-bookings have already begun.

While the booking amount for the GLA-Class is around Rs 2 lakh, the car will be priced slightly above Rs 30 lakh. The GLA will be the third product, after the A- and the B-Class, in India to be based on the MFA (Modular/Mercedes Front Architecture) platform.

The front fascia of the mini SUV features a set of bi-xenon head-lamps infused with LED daytime running lights. Other significant features include active parking assist, front and rear parking sensors, 9 airbags, navigation system, reversing camera, dual-zone climate control and an audio system with six speakers, audio streaming and Bluetooth connectivity. Moreover, the GLA-Class will also get fuel-saving features such as a start-stop button and radiator grille shutters.

The GLA-Class will be rolled out with both, petrol and diesel engine options. There could be two engine options in the petrol category, a 1.6-litre petrol 156bhp, and a 2.0-litre 181bhp. Whereas, the diesel model might house a 2.2-litre powertrain that is good for 135bhp and 300Nm. Both the motors will be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch. The company will also launch an AMG version of the GLA crossover later.
