Designed and engineered by the Maruti Suzuki development teams led by the Chief Engineer Mr CV Raman, work on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza started almost 5 years back, in mid-2011 to be precise. The sub-compact SUV, seen with prominent DRLs that will hopefully be a standard provision, will find its primary rival in the Ford EcoSport. The Hyundai Creta, on the other hand, will barely make it to the list of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza's rivals, owing to its comparatively expensive price tag.
One must note that the Hyundai Creta was originally meant to be launched in October, 2015, but the launch was rescheduled to July, 2015 in light of the Vitara Brezza's impending launch. This, consequently, gave the South Korean a head start in the segment. Maruti Suzuki did try competing with the Hyundai Creta with the S-Cross, and failed.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza promises to be a different story; it will come powered by the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol motor and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel unit. Mated to a 5-speed manual, and probably a CVT too, the Vitara Brezza sub-compact SUV's price is expected to range between Rs. 8 lakh - Rs. 10 lakh.
